Hello,
I am Rashid Zahidi,
Creator and author of the Emojim Journal,
A journal and workbook for emotional awareness and for balancing your wheel of life.
Welcome to this meditation about overcoming procrastination.
Find a comfortable position,
Either seated or lying down,
And gently close your eyes.
Allow your hands to rest naturally,
Either on your lap or by your sides.
Take a deep breath in through your nose,
And slowly release it through your mouth.
Repeat this two or more times,
Each exhale releasing tension and bringing you into the present moment.
Feel the surface beneath you.
Notice how it supports you.
Allow your body to feel anchored and safe.
Let go of any distractions and turn your attention inward.
Now,
Begin with a gentle scan of your body,
Starting at the top of your head and slowly moving to your toes.
With each area you focus on,
Invite a sense of relaxation.
If you notice tension,
Breathe into that area and imagine it softening with each exhale.
As your body relaxes,
Your mind becomes clearer and more open to reflection.
Now,
Bring to mind a task or goal you've been avoiding.
Without judgment,
Allow it to gently come into your awareness.
Notice how your body reacts as you think about it.
Do you feel tightness in your chest?
Or do you feel a flutter in your stomach?
Just observe these sensations.
Now,
Ask yourself,
What am I truly afraid of?
Is it the fear of making a mistake?
Is it the fear of being judged?
Is it the fear of not meeting my expectations or other people's expectations?
Let these fears surface without resistance.
Acknowledge them as part of your experience,
Knowing they do not define you.
Imagine holding these fears in your hands as if they were physical objects.
Look at them with curiosity and compassion.
Say to yourself,
It's okay to feel this way.
Fear is natural,
But it does not control me.
Now,
Visualize placing these fears into a flowing river.
Watch them drift away,
Carried by the current.
Feel the lightness in your hands as you let go.
And as the fears let go.
With each breath,
Affirm your ability to move forward without these fears weighing you down.
Now,
Shift your focus to the concept of failure.
Picture it as a teacher standing before you,
Offering lessons rather than judgment.
And ask this teacher,
What can I learn if things don't go as planned?
Listen to the answers that arise within you.
See failure not as an end point,
But as a stepping stone,
A necessary part of growth and success.
As you breathe,
Repeat silently,
Failure is a guide,
Not a verdict.
I learn and grow with each step.
Now,
Bring your attention back to the task or goal you've been avoiding.
Imagine yourself taking the first small step toward it.
See yourself completing that step with confidence and with ease.
Feel the sense of accomplishment and momentum building within you.
With each inhale,
Imagine drawing in courage and focus.
With each exhale,
Release any remaining doubt or hesitation.
Picture a path unfolding before you,
Illuminated with possibility and progress.
As this meditation draws to a close,
Repeat silently or aloud,
I am capable of facing my fears.
I take small,
Meaningful steps toward my goals.
I grow stronger with every effort I make.
Take a final deep breath in,
Filling your lungs with confidence and clarity.
Exhale,
Grounding yourself in the present moment.
When you're ready,
Gently wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
Open your eyes,
Returning to your space with a renewed sense of purpose and calm.
Now,
This meditation is a reminder that fear of failure is part of the human experience,
But it doesn't have to hold you back.
Each small step you take is a victory worth celebrating.
Carry this sense of empowerment with you as you approach your tasks and goals.
