Bringing the awareness to the breath is a powerful anchor to bring the awareness to the present moment. You can use this method any time during the rest of your day to calm your mind and enjoy the moment.

Welcome to this five minute meditation and thank you for joining me today.

You can find a comfortable seat or a comfortable position,

Allowing your body to arrive where it is.

In a place you can sit in stillness for just a few minutes.

You can bring your eyes cast downwards to a point on the floor or you can allow your eyes to close,

Bringing your attention inward.

The spine is long,

The shoulders are relaxed,

Your eyebrows are relaxed,

Your body is relaxed but present.

Keeping a long spine encourages presence in meditation.

If it feels comfortable to you,

You can bring your attention to your breath,

Noticing that when you inhale,

The belly expands and when you exhale,

The belly softens.

Allowing your breath to be a little bit deeper each time you inhale and each time you exhale,

Allowing the awareness to rest on the breath.

Notice if your mind begins to wander,

You can bring your awareness back at any time to the breath.

Breathing in,

The body expands and breathing out,

The body softens.

Breathing in the present moment,

Breathing in,

The body expands and breathing out,

The body softens.

You can come back to this grounding breath at any time during your day.

Take one deep breath in through the nose and out through the mouth and gently begin to open your eyes and come back to this space.
