In this mind training meditation, we will cultivate the intimacy of being here, to cultivate inner calm – continually present and connected. We’re usually anywhere BUT here. Usually, we are caught up in various stories, and to-do lists. When we train our minds to recognize this happening, we can shift this state, the natural effect of this is we become calmer. We can suddenly be here again. If this meditation helped you to connect back to calm, please leave a comment, questions are also very welcomed. Donations are not necessary, however warmly received.

Welcome to your calm abiding practice.

Meditation is essentially mind training.

It takes work and consistency.

Working with the conditioning of the mind isn't always easy and there's no right or wrong.

So I invite you here to just do your best.

Let's take some time to arrive in a comfortable seat.

Bringing a sense of presence to how your body is feeling in this moment and adjusting and allowing yourself to feel comfortable.

See if you can invite a quality of feeling at ease.

Making a gentle commitment once you find that sense of ease to remain still.

Slowly exhaling.

Two more slow steady exhalations.

Settle into breathing naturally in and out of the nose.

Feel a settling quality in the breath.

Settling your energy.

Your body and mind.

Inviting your attention to gently rest on the feeling and sensation of your breath.

The complete full journey of the inhalation and the exhalation.

As you maintain your awareness on your breath,

Start to feel a natural sense of relaxation.

With alertness.

Notice the habit of the mind to drift and wander.

The noticing is awareness.

It's mind training.

Make that choice to stop that very natural following of the thoughts and return to the breath.

What we're doing here is training our capacity to choose.

To choose what our mind attends to.

Allow any critical inner voice to quieten down and soften.

You're not a bad meditator if the mind wanders off.

You're just human.

Offer yourself this simple phrase.

Stopping and returning.

Stopping the following of the thoughts and returning to the breath.

Share a couple of minutes here together to practice returning to breath.

Notice a sense of inner calm.

Know that this space is always here for you.

It's always within you.

And training the mind is like training anything else.

It takes time to put the effort in.

And then we start to reap the benefits.

Notice the softness of the breath.

Last few moments here together resting in a state of inner calm.

Bring a sense of joy to that.

Bring our practice to a close now.

Well done.
