During our days we can get so tight trying to hold everything together,
Trying to get through the day unscathed.
As we go along there can be a gradual unconscious tightening in the body,
Leading us to be very much in our heads full of thoughts,
Worries,
Stresses but you have the most incredible inner resource to come back to,
Back home to your body,
Back home to the spaciousness within your body,
It never leaves you,
It's part of your true nature,
It is always there but sometimes it's just covered over and not accessible because we get so entangled in life stuff.
In this soothing practice we're going to gradually let go,
Come home to the body and rest slowly into that deep inner spaciousness,
Stillness,
The quiet,
So get yourself really comfortable in your bed,
Let your body really relax deeply and heavily into the bed,
Held and nurtured by the softness of the mattress and the sheets,
You can take a deep breath in and let out a releasing and satisfying sigh,
Letting go of the day,
Letting go of anything that doesn't serve you,
Just resting,
Relaxing,
Safe in your bed,
Begin to notice your breath coming in and out of your body,
Your belly,
Lungs and ribs expand and contract with ease,
Bringing in fresh oxygen,
Feeding and nourishing your body,
Let your lungs expand fully and allow yourself to breathe out deeply with each out breath,
Allowing your body to land here into the bed holding you,
Letting tension melt away,
Your body relaxing deeper and deeper with each out breath,
Resting into your bed and letting go,
Becoming aware slowly of how your body feels,
Can you feel the muscles in your legs and arms,
Letting them be heavy and relaxed,
Allowing your shoulders to drop and be supported by the bed,
Maybe you feel emotions arising in your call,
Can you let them be there,
Can you give them space,
Holding them with compassion,
Maybe you notice a sense of aliveness in your body,
Maybe as you breathe your body feels like it's just deeply relaxing bit by bit,
As you rest there,
As you breathe,
You could have the sense that your whole body is breathing,
Like your skin is permeable and that breathing process gradually softens the holding that you have to your form and gradually your awareness expands out and you become more spacious and open,
Your inner spaciousness connecting with the space around you,
Connecting you with the space of the entire universe,
Letting tension in the body melt away,
Deepening into your bed,
Safe and held,
Gradually letting go and becoming more spacious and open,
Allowing yourself to really let go into that space,
Drifting,
Expanding and as my voice gradually dissolves away,
Allow yourself to rest in that safe expansiveness,
In the stillness,
In the quiet,
Let the sounds carry you and hold you,
Slowly drifting into a deep and peaceful sleep.
