This nature-based meditation is designed to help you gently unwind after your day,

Release any lingering tension or thoughts and prepare your body and mind for restful,

Restorative sleep.

It is ideal for anyone who finds it hard to switch off at night or struggles with restless thoughts.

You can use this practice any time before sleep to create a calming bedtime ritual that invites peace and ease into your night.

Find a comfortable position either lying down on your bed or sitting somewhere quiet and peaceful.

Allow your body to feel fully supported by the surface beneath you,

Letting go of any tension or tightness.

Close your eyes if that feels safe and comfortable or simply soften your gaze,

Letting your eyelids rest gently.

Begin by taking a few slow gentle breaths,

Inviting calm with each inhale and release with each exhale.

Breathe in slowly through your nose and breathe out softly through your mouth with a gentle sigh,

Allowing yourself to settle deeper into this moment.

Imagine yourself stepping into a quiet forest at twilight where the last gentle light of the day filters softly through the tall ancient trees.

The air is cool and fresh,

Carrying the rich grounding scent of earth,

Pine and moss beneath your feet.

With each slow mindful breath feel yourself becoming more relaxed,

More calm and more deeply present in this peaceful safe space.

Allow the stillness of the forest to wrap around you like a comforting blanket,

Inviting your mind and body to settle fully into the moment.

Notice the gentle rustle of leaves as a soft breeze moves through the trees like nature's lullaby inviting you to let go.

With every exhale release the stress and worries of your day,

Let them drift away like fallen leaves floating down a slow moving stream.

Visualize the ground beneath your feet,

Solid and steady,

Feel how it holds you safe and secure.

Imagine roots gently growing from your body into the earth,

Grounding you deeply and calming your nervous system.

As you continue to breathe deeply and steadily,

Bring your awareness gently down to your feet.

Feel a warm soothing calm beginning to settle there,

Like the soft earth beneath a quiet forest floor.

With each exhale invite the muscles in your feet to soften and release any tension.

Slowly allow this peaceful sensation to travel up through your ankles and calves.

Feel the gentle unwinding of any tightness or tiredness,

As if a gentle stream of cool water is flowing over them,

Washing away the day's stress.

Let this wave of calm continue to rise,

Reaching your knees and thighs,

Notice your muscles melting into relaxation,

Your legs feeling heavy,

Supported and safe.

Now guide this soothing stillness into your hips and pelvis,

Releasing any tension and tightness you might be holding there.

Allow your body to sink deeper into the surface beneath you,

Fully supported and held.

Draw this peaceful calm into your lower back and abdomen,

Feeling your breath naturally soften and slow as your belly rises and falls gently with each inhale and exhale.

Allow this serene relaxation to flow into your chest and upper back.

Feel your heart slow its pace,

Resting in a gentle rhythm as your shoulders drop and your arms become heavy and loose at your sides.

Invite the calmness to move through your neck,

Softening any tension around your throat,

Jaw and face.

Smooth your forehead,

Unclench your jaw and let your eyes rest gently behind closed lids or a softened gaze.

Finally,

This gentle wave of stillness reaches the very top of your head,

As your entire body becomes wrapped in a cocoon of calm,

Peace and deep relaxation.

Let your mind quiet and your heart steady,

Allowing your body to fully rest in this moment of stillness.

Repeat silently to yourself,

I release what no longer serves me.

I welcome peace and rest.

I am safe,

I am calm,

I am ready for sleep.

Let this image of the peaceful forest to gently cradle you,

Preparing you for a night of deep healing rest.

Know that you can return to this place of calm any time you need to settle for sleep.

Allow yourself to feel grounded,

Safe and completely at ease.

When you're ready,

Let yourself drift softly and effortlessly into a deep,

Restful sleep.

Carrying this calm and peaceful feeling with you through the night.

Remember,

Creating a nightly ritual like this can help you unwind and invite restful sleep,

So feel free to return to this meditation each night.

Namaste
