Greetings and welcome to today's meditation,
Meeting the Protector.
Take a slow breath in through your nose and let it fall gently out of your mouth.
Allow your shoulders to soften.
And let your body settle wherever you are sitting or resting.
Allow it to find its place of comfort and ease.
Let your attention come into the space around you.
Notice the temperature of the air,
The support beneath you,
And the simple rhythm of your breath.
When you are ready,
Bring your mind to a recent moment,
When you felt even a small shift of tension or guardedness.
It doesn't need to be a big moment,
Just something that created a slight tightening inside of you.
Notice where that sensation lives in your body right now.
You might feel it in your chest,
Or your belly,
Your throat,
Or somewhere else entirely.
And if it feels okay to do so,
Just greet that space,
That place,
With curiosity.
You can gently say inside,
I notice you.
As you allow an image or a sense of a protector to come forward,
It may show itself clearly or simply as energy or a color.
There is no right or wrong way for it to appear.
It can appear the way that feels right to it,
And it's welcomed.
Quietly acknowledge it.
You can say,
I see you.
I know you have been working hard to keep me safe,
And I appreciate you.
Take a breath,
And sense how it responds to being noticed.
And if it feels right,
You can ask inside,
What are you trying to protect me from?
Just be with it right here.
Do not rush for an answer.
There's no pressure here,
Just curiosity and a desire to connect.
Simply listen with patience and kindness.
And whatever you sense,
Thank this part for its efforts.
Take another soft breath,
And just imagine a small wave of relief or warmth coming in surrounding it,
Surrounding you.
Let this moment of connection land in your body.
Feel the presence of your awareness and the presence of your protector.
Both are allowed to be right here,
Sharing this space,
Sharing this time,
Being with one another.
And when you are ready,
Take one last breath in,
And let it out gently.
Allow the breath to be for this meeting,
For this connection.
And you can say to it again,
I see you.
I thank you.
I am learning to listen.
Let your eyes gently open as you begin to come back to this present moment by wiggling your fingers and wiggling your toes.
As your awareness of yourself and your part,
Your protector begin to widen within you.
It gets to expand within you.
And when it feels right,
Express gratitude and thankfulness for it being with you.
