You've been wearing it so long,
You forgot it was a mask.
The version of you that's capable.
Unfazed.
In control.
The one who doesn't need much.
Doesn't ask for much.
At some point that version stopped being a choice.
It just became you.
Or at least it became who you thought you had to be.
Today we're going to slow down long enough to feel the difference.
Let's come into the body first.
Get comfortable,
Feet on the ground,
Hands resting somewhere easy.
Slow breathing through the nose.
Let it drop all the way down.
And out,
Long and slow.
Notice the weight of your body right now.
Where you're being held,
Where you're being supported.
One more breath.
In.
And out.
Let your face soften,
Your jaw,
The muscles around your eyes.
Whatever expression you've been holding all day,
You can let it go for now.
Think about the version of yourself you present most often.
At work.
With friends.
With family.
The face you put on when you walk into a room.
Notice.
Does it feel like you?
Or does it feel like something you put on?
What does it cost you to hold that version in place?
Stay with that question.
There might be tide in this day.
Or something more like.

Friendly.
At the idea of putting it down for a moment.
The mask didn't appear out of nowhere.
You built it because it worked.
People responded to it.
You got results with it.
Maybe it even got you through some things that needed getting through.
The problem isn't the mask itself,
It's when you can't find yourself underneath it anymore.
When someone asks what you actually want.
And you genuinely don't know when you're alone and still performing.
Who were you before you needed to be good at this?
Don't rush that question.
There might be a version of you,
Younger,
Less polished,
Less defended.
Who knew what he wanted.
Who felt things more directly.
Who hadn't learned yet to manage all of it.
What did that version of you know that the current one has maybe forgotten?
Here's what I want you to hold on to.
The mask is not a lie.
Parts of it are probably genuinely you.
But it's not all of you.
And the work,
The real work,
Isn't tearing it off.
It's learning to tell the difference.
Between what you actually are.
And what you learn to perform.
That starts with moments like this one.
Slowing down,
Getting quiet,
Noticing.
You don't have to figure out who you are today.
You just have to be willing to keep looking.
One final breath in.
And let it go completely.
Feel the ground beneath you,
The weight of your body.
Underneath every version of yourself you've ever performed.
There's something steadier.
Something that doesn't need an audience.
That's what we're working towards.
