Hi,
I'm Amy and I'm here to tell you all about guided meditation,
Specifically visualization.
If you're the type of person who finds that their mind wanders off during meditation practice or perhaps in times of silence,
Then guided meditation is for you.
During a session I as your instructor will do the hard work for you.
I do like to keep things simple so that anybody can do it.
We usually start with some breathing together so I may say take a deep breath in for six and out for eight.
How do you feel today?
And this all gets you focused onto my voice and clears your mind ready for visualization.
So what is visualization?
I will help you to build a picture in your mind of a place that you may find relaxing or useful to visit.
So I may say,
Imagine that you're on a beach.
Hear the waves as they lap at the golden sand.
What does the horizon look like?
How does that sand feel between your toes?
Look up to the sky.
What shape are the clouds?
Look at the shade of the blue between the clouds,
And I'm essentially going to allow you to build a picture of that place in your mind and really,
Really enjoy being there.
Imagine I'm giving you paintbrushes,
Paint,
And a paint-by-numbers image,
And you make that artwork come alive,
But I prompt you.
That is visualization.
And it is extremely beneficial for your mind,
Your body and your spirit as a practice.
When you imagine a place in your mind,
Your mind truly believes that you're there.
So you reap all the benefits of being on a beach without actually having to take the journey.
I really hope that I can guide you soon.
