Anxiety often signals an opportunity for inner healing and deeper self-awareness,
Guiding us toward a more authentic life.
Welcome to this series of meditation tracks.
In this series I aim to talk about anxiety in a different way and create space for insight and reflection for you so that you can see something new about your anxious thoughts.
Believe me,
I understand how debilitating anxiety can be and I want you to know that there is a way through as anxious thoughts are not you but they are happening to you.
Make yourself a little more comfortable.
Let go of expectations.
Let go of judgments.
And allow yourself the gift of these few minutes together.
If you feel comfortable to do so,
Close your eyes or lower your gaze and allow your breathing to settle into a deep rhythmic pattern.
There's nothing to attend to,
Nothing to do,
Nowhere to be.
I invite you to listen to today's quote again and see what it means to you.
Anxiety often signals an opportunity for inner healing and deeper self-awareness,
Guiding us towards a more authentic life.
Take a moment to let these words sink in.
Allow yourself to be present with the message and gently breathe in the meaning behind the quotes.
As you inhale,
Inviting the wisdom and as you exhale,
Release your preconceived notions or resistance.
What's this quote mean to you?
Reflect on how anxiety has shown up in your life.
Have there been moments when anxiety has nudged you to look deeper within yourself?
To uncover hidden truths or your inner diamond?
How do you feel when you think about anxiety in this way?
Instead of seeing it solely as a burden,
What about if it was a teacher?
What emotions arise when you consider anxiety as a signal for potential growth and healing?
Where in your life has this been true?
Think about times when anxiety led you to a breakthrough,
A deeper understanding of yourself or a significant change in your life.
Maybe it was a challenging period that pushed you to seek help,
Practice self-care or reassess your priorities.
What resistance do you feel when considering this perspective?
Allow yourself to acknowledge any doubts or fears that come up.
It's natural to resist change and to feel uncomfortable with new ways of thinking.
Notice these feelings without judgment.
Notice these feelings without judgment.
If it pleases you to do so,
Take a moment to journal your thoughts.
Write down your reflections on the quote,
Your feelings about anxiety and any resistance that you have.
Writing can be a powerful way to gain clarity.
Equally,
You can just sit and relax and enjoy the music.
I'll give you a few moments right now.
I'd like to share a personal story that I think relates to this quote.
There was a time when I experienced anxiety with my workload.
I felt overwhelmed and sick.
I felt bullied and I really didn't know how to get out of the current situation.
The only thing I knew was to keep plowing through.
But I was getting sleepless nights,
Was affecting the way I was in the world.
And I was self-medicating to try to make myself feel better.
One day,
A mentor of mine talked about rest.
And I cried and cried and cried.
I didn't even know why I was crying.
Shortly after that,
I didn't have any appetite to work at all.
But I wasn't feeling anxious.
I started to take more notice of myself,
Allowing myself to sleep,
Realizing that I used to push myself to get up early and go to work.
Because that's the only way that I knew to get through this never-ending to-do list.
As I started to embrace sleep,
I started to need more sleep.
I previously wouldn't have allowed myself to do this because I would have thought I was lazy.
And along the journey,
I realized that my anxiety and overwhelm were actually signaling my body's deep need for sleep and rest.
Reflect on this story and consider how you see the quote now.
Allow yourself to go inward and explore your inner landscape with kindness and curiosity.
Do you need more rest than you allow yourself?
If you're seeing things differently,
Allow these just to work their way through your life.
You don't have to think about it too much.
If you're not,
Then be kind to yourself.
Often,
New insights come when we're not expecting them.
Don't worry if you can't see anything new right now.
You've already opened your mind to new possibilities.
Insight will follow in its own time.
