Welcome.
And thank you for choosing this meditation on grief.
Grief is one of the heart's natural responses to loss.
Grief allows us to feel the truth of our pain.
When we mourn.
We acknowledge the depth and truth of our loss.
It takes great courage,
Friends,
To grieve and to honor the pain we carry.
Holding space through meditation.
Can help us touch the pain and come together with our genuine human vulnerability.
With the fragility that is sometimes helpless and hopeless.
These are the storm clouds of the heart.
The 10,
000 sorrows that affect us all.
To sitting here.
Find a way to relax your body if you can.
If you prefer to lie down.
Take a position that best suits you right now.
Just begin by sensing your breath.
Feeling your breath in your chest.
The subtle inhale.
And a subtle exhale.
This noticing of the breath may help you to be aware of what you're holding.
You might place a hand gently over your heart.
As we hold our grief and loss and sorrow.
As you continue to breathe.
Just bring to mind the loss and pain you're feeling.
Just let the memories,
The images,
The feelings,
And all the connections come naturally.
Just hold them right now lightly.
Let's try to be patient and gentle with yourself in this moment.
Just allowing the feelings to come to the surface.
Layer by layer.
Just as they are.
Let's keep breathing softly.
With a sense of compassion.
Allowing whatever feelings to arise.
You might be experiencing anger.
Of fear.
Or deep sadness.
Just let them all come as they will.
Allow the pain and the tears to be here.
Let all of these emotions unravel your body and your mind.
As you breathe,
Just hold all that's there with a tenderness.
And a kindness for yourself.
Let's try to trust the unfolding of this release of grief.
Because it's a long process.
One that demands our attention.
Allow your heart to stay open.
As you honor this deeply difficult time.
Grief comes in waves.
And allowing ourself to be present with what's there.
As part of this journey.
I'm taking these last few moments.
To honor your loved one.
Just whisper to yourself.
To express your love and gratitude.
For what this person means to you.
Hold them close.
With a trust and a love.
That you each share together.
Hold them in your heart.
With a sense of friendship.
And humanity.
And deep love.
And imagine the ending of their suffering.
Imagine their beautiful face.
Strong body.
All liberated from the whole dead.
The suffering had on them.
Embrace all the beauty they possessed.
Sending love to them now.
May they be held.
Free from pain.
Free from fear.
And may they feel the love.
Don't we?
Still hold for them.
Even though they're gone.
And may they be at peace and ease.
Namaste
