Thank you for choosing this talk on mindfulness.
What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is part of a meditation practice.
And it involves paying attention.
To what's there in our minds and in our bodies at any given moment.
In this mindfulness.
Requires a respect.
And a kindness.
A curiosity.
So that we can open.
To the experience in its entirety.
The idea is to be more aware and in touch with what's present.
While paying attention to what's in your body.
In your mind.
So this embodied presence.
It's intentional.
And it allows us to see the thoughts,
The emotions,
All that's happening inside of our bodies,
The feelings and sensations.
Just being aware of it.
It just allows us to wisely and respectfully honor what's there.
Mindfulness helps us to find ease in life.
And with a steady practice,
It's an invitation to well-being.
There's grace and growth when we can sit and practice.
And learn to recognize the habitual patterns.
Of our minds and our bodies.
It's a calming bridge between the mind,
Body,
And spirit.
Helping to bring us back into balance.
When our mind wanders.
Has it will.
We start to recognize.
It's going to keep thinking no matter what we do.
And in the practice of recognizing that.
We learn to keep coming back to ourselves regardless of what the mind is doing.
And over time.
The mind starts to be a little bit calmer and not as restless.
And when it does get restless,
It's important to remember it's just a thought.
It's just an idea.
Doesn't mean it's true.
We can label it just gently.
Thinking,
Planning,
Ruminating.
Or fear,
Anger,
Sadness.
And when we're sitting in mindfulness and meditation.
We can come back to our body.
Come back to our breath as an anchor.
And in that moment,
We find just this presence.
Opportunity to feel what's here.
This mindfulness is the art of beginning again.
And the practice helps us to rewire our brain and our nervous system.
For better self-regulation and resilience.
It helps us to see when we start to actually have rumination or difficult feelings that We just notice that they're there.
And that noticing is the practice that helps to bring us back.
Back to our breath.
Back to a quiet,
Present space.
And some of the reasons people choose to do mindfulness and meditation.
Is just to get a deeper sense of kindness and compassion for ourself.
To help us in our relationships.
To help us with addiction.
Other challenges we're dealing with and to just live more in the present moment.
We start creating a clearing in the forest of our lives when we sit with what's there.
Thank you for joining me on this short talk.
Namaste.
