When things get really tough,
It can be so hard to notice anything that might be good or positive.
Today we're going to try to tune in to those glimmers.
So let's begin by finding a comfortable position.
Maybe you'd like to lie yourself down,
Allowing your body to rest fully against the support beneath you,
Or if you're seated,
To maybe support your back,
Your head,
Ground your feet.
If it feels safe,
Gently close your eyes,
Or soften your gaze.
Take a deep breath in,
As deep as is comfortable,
Acknowledging this moment that you've set aside for yourself.
This moment to nurture your spirit,
And to invite in a little lightness into your day.
So let's begin by bringing attention to your breath,
Flowing naturally in and out,
No need to change it.
Just notice the gentle rhythm,
Feeling the cool air entering your nose,
And the warmth as you exhale.
With each breath,
Imagine roots gently extending from you into the earth,
Grounding you in this moment,
Or two,
Beginning to gently deepen your breath,
Maybe placing a hand under your breath if that's helpful,
Allowing yourself as much time as you need.
With every exhale,
Allowing your body to soften,
With every exhale releasing tension,
And creating space for this lightness to flow in.
As you rest in this breathing rhythm,
Bring to mind the idea of glimmers,
Glimmers that shine with hope,
With joy,
Even glimmers of the tiny sparks that remind us of the beauty and connection that still surrounds us.
They might be as simple as the way sunlight plays on a wall,
The sound of birdsong,
Or the comforting touch of a blanket or cushion.
Pale,
Invite a glimmer to surface,
Or even a feeling that brings you warmth.
Let yourself imagine one,
Maybe picturing the sunlight breaking through clouds,
Illuminating everything with its golden light,
Or the soft calmness you feel in a forest.
Hold this glimmer gently in your mind as you breathe in,
Letting its lightness and brightness expand within you.
As you exhale,
Envision that any heaviness or doubt leaves your body,
Making more room for this glimmer to shine.
With each breath,
Allow the glimmer to glow stronger,
Until it feels like it's lighting up your heart,
Your mind and filling your body with warmth and with calm,
Affirmed to yourself,
I am open to the glimmers that surround me.
Each small spark brings me light and hope.
Repeating this once more,
Letting its meaning settle deeply within you,

With all the brightness that your glimmer offers,
As you exhale,
Imagine your body softening completely,
Grounded in this moment of warmth and connection,
Knowing that these glimmers are always around you,
Waiting to be noticed.
And the more we practice this,
The easier it becomes.

Gently bringing awareness back to your surroundings,
Letting your eyes open slowly,
Maybe supporting with your hands,
And gently coming back into our space.
