Today is a day for you.

Whether you are sick,

Whether you need rest,

Or whether you just need a day of self-care,

It is okay to take this day and provide yourself with what you need.

Find a comfortable seat or lay down if you are able to.

Exhale all of your air out.

Close your eyes and slowly,

With intention,

Begin to fill up with a fresh breath of air.

Begin by expanding your stomach,

Then your ribs,

Then your chest.

You might notice that it is difficult to take a breath starting from your stomach.

If this is so,

Take a moment to relax and release any tension you might be holding in your stomach.

Again,

Take an inhale.

Allow your stomach to expand and when it's at its fullest,

Move upward by expanding your ribs and then expand your chest and hold at the top briefly.

Maybe take a little sip of air and slowly,

With intention,

Release bit by bit,

Releasing the air from your chest,

Then your ribs,

Then your stomach.

At the bottom of a breath,

Continue taking in deep,

Long breaths and exhale as slowly and intentionally as possible on your own.

As you are breathing,

Be mindful of relaxing different parts of your body.

Relax your brows,

Release your jaw,

Rest your shoulders,

Let the tension go from your stomach,

Relax your hips,

Rest your legs,

Feeling the support of whatever is underneath you.

Be mindful of your hands.

Release your grip and place your palms face down on your knees or on the ground if you're laying down.

In a moment,

You will take B's breath.

This is a grounding and restorative breath that involves inhaling deeply through your nose and humming as you exhale.

It will sound like this.

Do this three times at your own pace.

When you are done,

Keep your eyes closed and continue to breathe deeply at your own rhythm.

Ready?

Inhale and release.

Today is a day for you to relax,

To heal,

To rest.

You are deserving of this time.

Give yourself permission to take this rest in whatever way that looks for you.

Maybe you'll stay in bed all day.

Maybe you will catch up on your favorite TV show.

Maybe you will spend time with family.

Or perhaps you have a personal project you will work on.

This time can be whatever you need it to be.

It is your time.

This is your day.

When a thought comes into your mind that tells you what you should be doing,

Remind yourself of this moment and that this is your time.

You get to decide what it looks like.

There's no need to check your emails.

There's no need to check in with your team.

There's no need to be anywhere but here.

Your body and your mind deserve the rest.

Take a moment to feel the peace in your body,

The quiet in your mind.

Know that you are deserving of this every day,

But mostly today on your day off.

Enjoy the moment.

Enjoy the day.

It is your day.
