Welcome,
Dear one.
I invite you to take a seat wherever you are.
However your body wants to rest.
Let your eyes close at the same time.
Soften your jaw.
Let your shoulders fall.
Take a slow breath.
In.
.
.
And the long.
Smell.
Exhale.
And again,
Breathe in.
And let a long sigh out.
Here we're going to practice something that may feel deeply unfamiliar.
Receiving without earning.
If you've spent most of your life over-giving.
Over helping.
Over-performing.
Or over-serving.
Your nervous system.
Has learned that you receive love,
Attention,
And resources by earning them.
Perhaps love came when you got a good grade.
Attention came from taking care of others.
Money came when you worked harder than necessary.
So now,
When something tries to come to you that you haven't earned,
A compliment,
A payment,
Help,
Or rest,
Your body tightens.
It doesn't trust.
It looks for the catch.
Or wait for the shoe to drop.
Today we're going to teach your body something new.
I invite you to bring your hands to your chest.
Both hands if you can,
Gently over your heart.
Feel the warmth of your own hands.
Feel the rise and fall of your breath underneath them.
And now,
Picture something.
Anything that you've recently struggled to receive.
Maybe it was a compliment you deflected.
Maybe it was money you didn't feel worthy of.
Maybe it was someone offering help,
And you said you were fine.
Whatever it is.
Let your style remember that moment.
Notice what your body did.
The tightening.
The pulling away.
A story your mind told about why you didn't deserve it.
And now I want you to imagine the moment again.
But this time.
Take a breath.
And let yourself receive it.
Let yourself receive it fully.
Without explaining.
Without minimizing.
Without immediately giving something back.
To balance the scale.
Just.
.
.
Receive.
Say to yourself silently or out loud.
I am allowed to receive.
Without earning it.
My worth is not conditional upon my performance.
I can let it in.
I deserve simply because I exist.
And notice what's happening in your body.
And spare relief.
Resistance.
Tears.
All of it is welcome.
All of it is a quiet.
Gentle.
We're wiring a new body.
And take a nice,
Long breath.
In.
.
.
Folding at the top.
And slowly release.
Slowly coming back.
Place your hand.
On the surface beneath you.
Let your eyes open when they're ready.
Receiving is a muscle.
And every time you let yourself take in what's offered.
Without explaining.
Or earning.
You're rewiring something old.
Practice this gently.
Come back to this meditation when the old patterns try to pull you back into forgiving.
And take a moment.
To thank yourself for being here.
You are worthy.
You are deserving.
It all gets to come so easily.
Simply because you exist.
No effort required.
Just be in the energy of receiving.
