Welcome to day 18 of our 30-day meditation challenge.
Today we'll be practicing with the breath dissolving into space.
So I invite you to find a comfortable position for this practice,
A position that allows you to remain both alert.
But also at ease.
So this could be seated up on a cushion,
Seated in a chair,
Lying down,
Or even standing with your back against a wall.
And I invite you to close your eyes,
Or if it feels more supportive,
Just keeping the eyes a quarter of the way open.
And gazing down softly towards the floor.
And let's take a deep,
Slow breath in through the nostrils.
And releasing through the nostrils.
Noticing this inflow and outflow of the breath.
Then feeling the place where the breath touches the body.
Perhaps at the belly.
The chest.
The edges of the nostrils.
Now noticing the space around the breath.
Noticing how the breath appears.
And disappears again.
Into a vast open space.
So we're breathing this space into our body.
Making more space.
And then exhaling,
Following the breath all the way out.
As it dissolves into the space around you.
Noticing breath appearing or arriving in the space.
As we inhale.
And then as we exhale,
Dissolving into that space all around.
Mingling with this space around and in the body.
And on this next exhale,
Imagining exhaling out.
As far as you can to the furthest reaches of space around you.
And then allowing that next breath to arrive naturally.
Filling the body with space.
And exhaling,
Dissolving that breath into spaciousness.
Anytime that the mind wanders,
It's no problem.
Re-arriving with this next breath as it appears in space.
And exhaling,
Dissolving that breath into space.
Thank you for practicing with me on day 18 of our meditation challenge.
And I do hope that you'll practice with me again tomorrow.
