This meditation begins with a progressive relaxation to prepare you for your journey. Listen to it any time of the day or allow the forest to guide you into a dreamy sleep.

Hello,
This is Kimberly.
I would like to guide you in a meditation that I call the forest,
Journey into the forest.
But before we begin,
I would like to guide you in a progressive relaxation just to allow you to be truly present with this meditation.
So please make yourself comfortable either lying down or sitting in a soft,
Comfy chair.
And if you're feeling any strain in your lower back and you're lying down,
Bend your knees and place your feet slightly apart and just allow the knees to fall inward.
Invite your body to rest and take a few deep cleansing breaths.
And on those exhalations,
Just allow all the accumulated moments of your day fade away.
And if you find that you're leaning into the future,
Gently bring yourself back to focusing on your breath,
Remaining as present as possible.
And now begin to tighten the muscles in your lower body.
Curl your toes,
Flex your feet,
Squeeze the muscles around your knees,
Tense your bottom,
Activate the abdomen.
Feel your entire lower body's contracted,
Strong,
Tense,
And active.
Taking a deep breath in,
And as you exhale,
Just let everything go.
Just allow the feet to flop apart and fully feel any sensations that arise.
And now become aware of your upper body.
Make a fist,
Flex your wrist,
Squeeze the muscles around the elbows,
The shoulders,
Draw the shoulder blades together,
Tense the neck,
And keep clenching your upper body tight,
Tighter,
As tight as you can.
And take a deep breath in.
Now exhale and let all that tension go.
And just allow your palms to rest upward as your arms rest beside your body.
And now start to feel the tension building in your jaw.
Clench your teeth,
Scrunch all the muscles in your face,
And keep your eyelids closed as tightly as you can,
Stretching the skin even on your scalp.
Keep holding,
Holding,
Holding.
Big breath in.
And exhale and release.
Good.
Now open your mouth as wide as possible.
Stick your tongue out.
Open your eyes wide,
Wider,
Even wider.
Don't worry.
Hopefully no one is looking.
But now just let all that tension go and release.
And as your entire body relaxes now,
Lie still and observe your internal energy rhythms.
And allow your eyes to close if they're not already closed.
And roll them back as if to look at the space between your eyebrows.
And let your internal gaze rest there.
Relax the muscles around your eyes.
Swallow.
And let your tongue rest near the back of your throat.
Part your teeth slightly and allow the jaw to slacken.
Bring just a hint of a smile to your face and breathe naturally.
Now notice your support.
If you're in a chair,
Notice the feet touching the floor.
If you're lying down,
Just notice what supports you.
And sense the security that comes with that.
Become aware of the air around you and how it interacts with the exposed parts of your skin.
You are embraced by the earth from below and the sky from above.
Feel the reassuring power of this embrace.
And to the best of your ability,
Keep your mind space a sacred space.
Imagine a vast blue sky.
The thoughts,
The images,
The sounds,
The internal dialogue and sensations are simply clouds passing through your sky.
Sometimes they are dark thunderous clouds and sometimes they are light fluffy clouds.
And other times the clouds just dance on the edges of your awareness.
Allow the clouds to pass through your mind without reacting to them.
Just rest,
Surrender,
Soften and allow.
And now that you're completely relaxed,
I invite you to join me on a journey.
Imagine that you are standing on a path at the edge of a small forest.
And the bright sun warms your back as you face the opening in the trees.
And the cool breeze from the forest is inviting you to enter.
The path is clear and broad and it's easy to follow.
So you step into the forest.
And all around you,
You can hear the birds calling to one another.
Their sounds are gentle and sweet.
And it's as if they are encouraging you to take a few more steps into their home.
And so you do.
And the peace in the forest is total.
You are aware of small animals around you.
You see rabbits and squirrels romping and playing.
You can hear the sounds of more birds hidden in the dense canopy of the forest.
And as you walk on,
You begin to notice that you hear the sound of running water.
And you can tell that the water is gentle.
And you walk into the direction of that sound.
And as you walk,
You can feel the leaves under your feet.
The small branches and the roots on the ground.
And it feels so good to have your feet touching Mother Earth.
And you let that gentle voice of the water call you on.
And shortly in front of you opens a little clearing in the forest.
And in the middle of the clearing is a small pool.
And this pool of water is being fed from a stream cascading down a small rocky slope.
And as that pool is filled to overflowing,
The water leaves the pool on the other side.
And continues its journey back into the forest.
And you notice here in this clearing there are some rocks where you can sit.
And the rocks are warm from the sun as its rays make their way down from the opening in the treetops.
And you walk to the largest of the rocks and take a seat on it.
And it's as if the rocks were made just for you to sit on.
It cradles your body and it holds you steady.
And you sit here for a few minutes in silence.
Listening to the sounds of the forest and the water all around you.
Your eyes are softly closed and your heart is full of joy.
And in a few moments you begin to sense the gentle presence of another being in front of you.
And you open your eyes and standing about six feet from you is a beautiful doe.
Her limpid brown eyes resting softly on you.
She's completely at ease and so are you.
And for some moments you sit enthralled by this beautiful gentle creature.
Just looking at you as if she loves you.
She is so calm and assured in your presence that even her ears are still.
And you are so in awe of her presence that your gaze cannot leave hers.
And it seems that she has brought a message for you.
And across the space between the two of you she is sending that message.
And somehow you become aware of the message and you are ready to receive it from her.
So allow your heart to open now and receive her message.
Your heart is filled to overflowing with the love that you are feeling in her message.
And she stands there for just a few moments longer.
And then she gently closes her eyes.
Opens them again for one last look at you.
Turns around and slowly walks back into the forest.
And you sit for a moment longer simply integrating into your being the message that she brought for you.
And then you rise from your spot on the rock.
Move gently back onto the path.
And walk slowly and calmly back to the edge of the forest.
Where you first stepped upon the path.
That message from the forest is being integrated into your being.
And you take that message with you back into your daily life.
And so it is.
And if this is the end of your day just allow yourself to rest.
And to be filled with the message that you received from the forest.
But if you are transitioning back into your day.
Take a deep breath.
Let it go.
And bring your awareness fully into this moment.
Gently wiggle your toes,
Your fingers,
Your ankles,
Your wrists.
Stretch your arms open.
Open your mouth and draw a deep breath.
Purposely initiating the yawn reflex.
And as you let that go sigh out any stagnant energy.
And begin to move the rest of your body to bring yourself back to full awareness.
And if you're lying maybe draw your knees into your chest one at a time.
Give yourself a hug.
Rock your spine.
Forward and back.
Side to side.
And whether you're lying or sitting bring your hands in prayer pose in front of your heart.
Feel the energetic residue of your efforts today.
And acknowledge your commitment to your health and to your well-being.
And thank you for sharing your energy with me today.
