Welcome,
I'm Kim Pask.
Today we'll explore Asmita,
The identification with the ego or personal story.
Sometimes we begin to believe the stories about who we are,
But our true nature is larger than any role or label.
Begin slowly by softening your gaze and notice the quality of your breathing.
Noticing the light rise and fall of your chest.
Feeling the body sitting or resting.
Noticing the simple fact of being here.
Observing identity.
Noticing thoughts that may arise.
Thoughts like,
This is who I am.
I always struggle.
Instead of arguing with these thoughts,
Simply observe them.
Like clouds moving across a wide sky.
The sky itself remains open and steady.
Your awareness is like that sky.
I invite you now to repeat a simple healing mantra.
I am more than my patterns.
You may say it silently within or softly aloud if that feels natural.
We will repeat this mantra for five rounds of breath.
Begin by inhaling slowly for a count of four.
One.
Two.
Three.
Four.
And as you exhale,
Gently repeat,
I am more than my patterns.
Allow the words to flow with the breath.
Again,
Inhale slowly for four.
And exhale,
I am more than my patterns.
Continue for five rounds,
Letting the breath carry the mantra naturally on each exhale.
Once you've repeated your five rounds,
Allow yourself to rest in the stillness for a few breaths.
Slowly bring your awareness back towards your hips,
Spine,
And begin to flutter your eyes open.
Allowing yourself to gently stretch out if that feels right for you.
Thank you for practicing with me.
Through mind and movement,
May you move toward peace and steadiness.
