This is Kavalia Shanti and today we're going to be doing a breath with a mantra.
And a mantra is simply a word or a phrase and in this instance we're going to use it in repetition.
So it's going to be a job mantra.
And this particular mantra I find very helpful when I'm trying to go to sleep and my mind would prefer not to.
Or when I wake up in the middle of the night and it's challenging to get back to sleep because I start thinking about things that are going on or maybe that I have to do the next day.
The mantra that we'll be reciting is So Hum.
And it's actually a contraction of a larger mantra,
But it means that I am.
And so it's connecting us to our divine nature that is beyond the trials and tribulations of our day-to-day life.
And the way that I use this mantra to help me sleep or to go back to sleep is on the inhale and on the exhale.
So if you're not already,
Go ahead and find just a nice comfortable position or perhaps if you're trying to go to sleep you can be laying down.
And just settle in wherever you are,
Starting to become aware of the breath,
Aware of breathing in,
Aware of breathing out.
And on your next inhale,
Mentally vibrate So.
