Gently closing your eyes,
Begin by feeling the breath at the tip of your nose as you breathe in.
Cool on the inhale and warm on the exhale.
Allow this to become your anchor,
Slow,
Quiet,
And steady.
Now gently shift your attention to the space between your forehead,
Between your brows.
Imagine this space is vast and clear,
Just like the sky over the Himalayas.
Now breathe into that space and let the mind rest there.
And with your next breath,
Begin to hum very softly,
Just beneath the breath.
Not aloud,
But internally.
Feel the sound as a vibration,
Not a noise,
And let it ripple through the back of your throat and down your spine.
Each breath becomes a subtle offering.
Each pause becomes a doorway.
You are not trying to achieve anything,
You are simply tuning.
Now imagine a deep,
Low vibration forming at the base of your spine,
And with each inhale allowing it to rise,
Like smoke curling up around the spine,
And with each exhale allowing the vibration to dissolve into space.
Continue this gentle cycle,
Inhale,
Lift,
Exhale,
Release,
Inhale,
Lift,
Exhale,
Release.
Continuing,
You are practicing inner resonance,
The sound of consciousness shifting shape.
After several breaths,
Bring your awareness to the space between the inhale and your exhale.
Continuing to breathe in this way,
Bringing your attention,
Your awareness,
To the tiny still point,
And pausing there.
This is the silence monks and yogis listen for,
The stillness that follows the gong,
The silence between worlds.
Rest in that space now.
Let the breath come and go naturally.
Listen to the silence within the sound,
The stillness beneath the breath.
You are the body,
Breath,
Silence,
And space.
Inhale,
And continuing in your own pace,
Bringing your awareness to the space between your inhale and your exhale,
Noticing the tiny point and pausing there.
A couple more rounds,
And returning to regular breathing when you're ready,
And as we come to a close,
Notice what has shifted.
Feel your body,
Noticing where subtle vibration remains.
Gently place your hands over your chest or belly,
And whisper silently,
I return to the space between.
I remember who I am beneath the noise.
And when you're ready,
Slowly open your eyes,
And go to journal.
