This meditation will help you feel deeply grounded and connected to Mother Earth, nurturing a stronger sense of stability and presence within your body. In today's fast-paced world, many people struggle with feeling ungrounded and disconnected from their physical selves. Cultural conditioning and societal expectations can weaken our root chakra, making it difficult to feel secure and grounded. When we live in a state of fear or react to life's challenges with anxiety, our root chakra can become even more compromised. On the other hand, facing our fears and cultivating inner resilience strengthens this vital energy center. Neglect, rejection, and feelings of not belonging are common issues associated with root chakra deficiencies, and these experiences can be particularly familiar to LGBTQ+ individuals. This meditation is designed to support you in reclaiming your sense of stability, belonging, and connection, allowing you to feel more rooted and at home in your body and in the world.

Hello everyone,

My name is John Steen.

I am a certified energy healing practitioner.

Today we are going to perform a grounding meditation.

Most people on the planet are very ungrounded,

Ungrounded to mother earth.

Most of us are very disconnected from our bodies as well,

And these are root chakra issues.

Our root chakra represents our foundation and our physical reality.

Also,

Cultural programming weakens our root chakra connection.

Combating our fears strengthens our root chakra.

Living and reacting from fear weakens it.

Neglect and rejection are very common root chakra deficiencies,

Which can be a very familiar feeling or issue for most LGBTQ plus people.

Does that resonate with you at all?

It sure does for me.

You know,

I'll tell you a quick story.

I came out after I graduated high school,

Which was in 1985,

Despite knowing that I was different at around age five,

And I moved to San Francisco in 1988.

It was towards the beginning of the AIDS pandemic.

It was a very different time,

And shortly thereafter,

Around age 22,

I came out to my father in a letter we would correspond by writing with each other,

And he was not happy with that.

He would send me letters and magazine articles saying that Catholic homosexuals have a choice and that God hates me and I am going to die.

Luckily at that time,

I was at that young age,

I was doing a lot of healing work,

And I ended up going no contact with him for about three or four years.

That was just unacceptable to me at that time to be spoken to that way and treated that way.

I deserve to be treated better,

Especially from my father.

And there was also clues that he himself may have been gay,

But that is another issue and another talk for another time.

So,

What that actually resulted for me was a lot of my root chakra issues.

I grew up also with an alcoholic mom.

Both of my parents were completely emotionally unavailable to me,

And so I've always felt very ungrounded in my life.

And around 2022,

Right after I became certified as an energy healing practitioner,

I had a huge healing and awakening around my father and my entire world has opened up for me,

Despite I still have some root chakra issues and I work on my root chakra quite a bit.

So does any of that resonate for you?

I share my story just so that we can find some commonality here,

So that you also don't feel alone in some of these issues that arise for us,

Especially around our root chakra and feeling grounded to the earth.

These are tough issues,

Aren't they?

So why don't we get into our meditation now.

So find a comfortable position where you will not be disturbed for a few minutes.

Sit up or lie down in a comfortable position,

In a space where you feel safe.

Close your eyes and turn your attention inward.

Establish the witness and find that space of neutrality within.

And relax your shoulders,

Relax your neck,

Relax your jaw,

Relax your face muscles,

Relax your head.

Now we're just going to do some deep breaths before we get started.

So take a deep breath into your head,

Into your brain,

And big exhale.

Take a deep breath into your chest,

Into your heart space.

Big exhale.

Deep breath into your belly.

Big exhale.

And deep breath into your pelvis,

Into your hips.

Big exhale.

Exhale all the way down your legs through the bottom of your feet to ground yourself into Mother Earth by using the Earth Star Chakra that sits below your feet about a foot,

Foot and a half below your feet.

Now visualize or otherwise imagine the grounding cords from your root chakra also going into Mother Earth,

Anchoring you securely.

Feel the stability and strength of these roots drawing in the Earth's nurturing energy.

Now bring your attention to the top of your head and just slowly move your attention down to your toes.

Notice any areas of tension and constantly consciously relax them.

If you notice any tension,

Feel free to breathe into that space in your body.

Just release any tension in your face,

Neck,

Shoulders,

And back.

Very nice.

Great job everyone.

Now silently or aloud,

Affirm your identity.

Say to yourself,

I am valid.

I am worthy.

I am whole just as I am.

Repeat this several times,

Letting the words resonate deeply within you.

I am valid.

I am worthy.

I am whole just as I am.

Beautiful.

And how does it feel to say those words?

Just check in with yourself.

Use your sensing abilities,

Your extra sensory perception,

And just feel into your body where those words show up for you.

Beautiful.

Beautiful.

Now picture a place where you feel completely accepted and loved.

It could be a real place or an imagined one.

Just visualize the colors,

The sounds,

And sensations of this safe space.

Notice every detail that makes this place comforting for you,

And just sense into your body.

Take deep breaths.

Continue to take deep breaths.

Our breath helps clear energy,

Helps get energy flowing.

How does it feel to be in this safe space?

Does it feel familiar?

Does it feel unfamiliar?

Does it feel needed?

Do you need to find more safe spaces for yourself?

Beautiful,

Everyone.

Wonderful.

Now imagine being surrounded by a circle of LGBTQ people who support and love you.

Feel their presence as a comforting and protective embrace.

Hear their voices of encouragement and acceptance.

And just sense into how that feels in your body.

And if anything is coming up for you with that,

Just allow the space for whatever needs to come up to come up.

Just give yourself permission to feel any feelings,

Feel any emotions that may be coming up in this comforting and protective embrace of your community,

And just really hear their voices of encouragement and acceptance.

So beautiful.

So safe.

So safe.

Beautiful,

Anyone.

Now imagine the colors of the rainbow,

The rainbow flag,

Or any flag that represents your niche as an LGBTQ person,

And each color representing a different aspect of your identity and community.

Just visualize these colors flowing from the earth into your body,

Through your roots,

Through the grounding cord,

Filling you with pride and strength.

Yes,

Just feel those colors coming up from Mother Earth.

Through your roots,

Just filling up your entire body with pride and strength.

And just sense into how that feels for you.

If anything's coming up for you,

Just allow that space.

Very nice.

Now scan your body again for any tension or discomfort.

With each exhale,

Imagine releasing this tension into the earth,

Through your roots,

Through that grounding cord,

Where it is transformed into positive energy.

And just deep breaths,

Just really release any of that tension into Mother Earth.

Beautiful.

Just sense in again to where you may be feeling that tension coming up in your body.

Just continue to take deep breaths as you need to.

Just releasing the tension.

Beautiful,

Everyone.

Now,

Visualize a warm,

Glowing ball of energy at the center of your chest,

At your heart chakra,

In the middle of your chest.

And with each breath,

Let this light energy grow,

Filling your entire body with warmth,

Love,

And acceptance.

Imagine this light energy radiating outwards,

Enveloping you in a protective and loving glow.

And just feel that beautiful energy.

Nice.

Just sense into how that light energy feels in your body.

Do you feel its warmth?

Just let it fill up your entire body.

Beautiful,

Everyone.

Now,

Let's set a positive intention for yourself.

It could be something like,

I will embrace my true self.

Or I will seek out and cherish supportive connections.

Just come up with your intention,

And let this intention guide you.

Your actions and thoughts today.

And feel free to also journal about the intention you just sent.

Journaling is an amazing tool on our healing and awakening journey to help get any feelings or emotions out of our bodies.

Beautiful.

Just feel if that intention,

Just feel and sense into your body where you feel your intention.

Where did your intention come from in your body?

Just really sense in.

Beautiful.

Very nice,

Everyone.

Now,

Take a moment to express gratitude for your unique identity and the journey you are on.

Feel gratitude for the support you receive and the love within you.

That is what's most important,

That self-love.

That self-love.

Just sense into your body how that feels.

Just send that love to,

That self-love to every corner of your body.

Love is a very,

Very grounding energy.

Beautiful,

Everyone.

Now,

When you're ready,

Start to wiggle your fingers and toes,

Your legs,

Bringing your awareness back to the present moment.

And we'll close with some more breaths.

Take a deep breath in.

Take a deep breath into your chest,

Into your heart space.

Big exhale.

Deep breath into your belly.

Big exhale.

Deep breath into your pelvis,

Into your hips.

Big exhale,

All the way down your legs,

Through your feet,

Back into Mother Earth.

And just slowly come back.

You can open your eyes.

And take a moment to reflect on how you feel,

How that feels in your body.

How that feels in your body.

And carry that sense of grounding and acceptance and community with you throughout your day.

And remember to write down any thoughts or feelings that come up during the meditation,

If it helps solidify your experience.

There are many things that we can do to help ground ourself.

I do them quite regularly.

One of my favorite things to do,

Actually,

Is to,

When I'm out walking,

I go to the park,

And I'll take my socks and shoes off,

And I will put my bare feet onto Mother Earth,

Into the soil,

Into the grass.

It's a really wonderful grounding exercise.

Also,

You can lie down,

Put your central channel,

All your chakras,

Also down onto Mother Earth.

And one that I've been doing a lot recently is,

When I'm hiking,

When I'm on Mother Earth,

Don't do this when you're on concrete,

Do it when you are on Mother Earth,

And say,

I belong here.

I belong here.

It's such a powerful exercise to do.

Especially for us LGBTQ people,

And if you are also an LGBTQ person of color,

It is so powerful to say,

I belong here.

Because you do.

Thank you so much for for making me feel seen. I'm Bi and it's taken me a long time to realize & come to terms with that. I figured it out when I was young, but I was so young that I didn't understand until after I turned 8. When had my first big crush on a girl. I then realized that I was not like everyone else, thought I choose, picked the one I could live with, & started to hide. This was well before I even knew what being Bi was, I just I different. I was afraid people would throw me away if they knew. I've only just recently came out to some of my friends and family. I've been struggling, & listening to your meditations have helped. So thanks.
