My name is John Steen.
I'm a Certified Energy Healing Practitioner.
Most everyone has experienced some type of trauma in their lives,
Usually from our past and most likely from our childhoods.
Trauma leaves an imprint on our brains and our nervous systems.
Specifically,
As children,
When we are having feelings,
We may have been told by our parents to stop crying,
Or I'll give you something to cry about,
Or stop being a sissy.
There are countless scenarios we may have encountered as children around our feelings.
But when we have parents who themselves don't know how to process their own feelings and emotions,
There is no way they can teach their children how to process their feelings.
So when we are given messages that our feelings are bad or wrong,
We start believing that having feelings is a bad thing,
And we start to feel shame.
And this can manifest into people-pleasing,
Codependency,
And CPTSD,
Which is complex post-traumatic stress disorder.
As children,
We stuff those feelings down into our systems,
Our bodies,
And then they turn into emotions.
These emotions become trapped inside us,
And they may cause problems as we get older and can result in disease.
I know for myself,
Growing up with an alcoholic mom,
Which itself is a traumatic experience,
I had lots of repressed emotions,
And as I got older,
My nervous system became quite dysregulated.
I also became dissociated with my body.
This results in our energy fields experiencing a misalignment with the physical body.
My system became oversaturated or frozen from past emotions that were stored within my system,
Because they weren't properly processed.
And specifically,
My vagus nerve.
The autonomic nervous system is part of our nervous systems.
It is subdivided into two main branches,
The sympathetic nervous system,
Which activates our fight-or-flight response,
And the parasympathetic nervous system,
Which promotes rest and digest.
These two branches work together to ensure that the body responds appropriately to internal and external stimuli.
The vagus nerve is the main component of our body's parasympathetic nervous system.
The vagus connects practically everything,
But most importantly,
It connects to all our seven chakras via the brain itself.
The vagus nerve also connects the lung,
Heart,
Spleen,
Liver,
Kidney,
Small intestine,
And colon.
Stimulating the vagus nerve can reduce inflammation and trigger the body's natural regenerative system.
Energy healing is a great way to stimulate and start to heal our vagus nerve and our overall nervous system,
And a great way to start finding energy blocks in our systems,
Which are trapped emotions.
I spent 40 years trying to heal myself and my trauma,
But I couldn't ever get to a place where I needed until I found energy healing here on Insight Timer.
In less than three years,
I went from laying on the couch,
Depressed and depleted,
I had quit my job,
And I didn't know what I was going to do with the rest of my life.
That's when I found energy healing.
I worked hard to heal my trauma and remove the energy blocks in my system.
It has completely changed the course of my life.
Now I'm a teacher here on Insight Timer.
It's quite remarkable.
I've always been a fan of affirmations.
I still use them quite regularly as part of my healing and awakening journey.
By using affirmations,
I'll get these messages stuck in my head,
And they serve me well when I'm confronted with stress,
Unpleasant feelings,
Or confrontations with others.
