Welcome,
I'm Jocelyn and this is a Yoga Nidra and it is about opening up to your potential,
To the mystery of your heart and your soul and what it is trying to tell you,
Listening to that inner wisdom.
So if you could find yourself in a comfortable position,
Either laying back in a comfortable chair,
Laying in bed,
Laying on the ground on a yoga mat and finding some pillows or rolled-up towels to support your body.
Yoga Nidra is an effortless practice.
You want to find as much comfort and support for your body as you can so that you can relax into the guidance that I'm offering here.
So finding a place of comfort,
A place of support,
And that might mean that you get a blanket to put over your body in case you get cold.
Sometimes when we're in a deep relaxation in a Yoga Nidra we get cold,
Our body temperature lowers.
You might want to put an eye mask on or a pillow under your head,
Under your knees,
Under your ankles.
Anywhere you feel you want to give a little extra support.
Maybe there's a part of your body that has been asking for some extra support and maybe this is the time where you give that body part your support.
So once you find yourself in a comfortable and effortless position,
I invite you to close down your eyes and just bring your awareness to your breath.
Just noticing your inhales and your exhales as they come almost like the waves of an ocean on a shore.
Just noticing them.
Your body knows what to do and it's finding you in the present.
So there's no right or wrong in how deep you're inhaling or exhaling.
Just noticing,
Just being aware of your own natural rhythm for a minute.
As you just bring your awareness to your breath it will naturally deepen as we bring our present moment to each inhale and exhale.
So you might be noticing that your breath is naturally deepening,
Expanding.
For just a few breaths we're going to inhale through the nose and then on the exhale with our teeth apart and our lips together just bringing a humming sound there.
It'll sound like this inhaling,
Exhaling with a hum.
And as you're exhaling on that hum you can bring your awareness to the vibrations happening in your mouth,
In your nasal passages.
Just allowing your awareness to settle there on each hum.
So we're going to do this a few times inhaling through your nose and we're going to do that a few more times but this time on your inhale just allowing it to expand into the lower belly expanding up through the ribs and then the chest in a full deep inhale and then on the exhale again with your lips and your teeth parted humming out and of course it could be in any note that you want whatever comes naturally just allow it to come out of you.
So we'll do this for three more times with those deep breaths inhaling deep into your belly your ribs your chest and exhaling on a hum inhaling into your lower belly ribs and chest exhaling with a hum and one more time inhaling into the lower belly the ribs and the chest exhaling on a hum and releasing that.
In yoga nidra we work with a sankalpa.
A sankalpa is a heart's intention or a true north,
A heart's desire.
So just spending a moment now connecting to your heart space opening your heart space just bringing your awareness there with the intention to open it.
You might even take a deep breath into the heart space and out of the heart space and listening for what your heart is calling for.
A sankalpa is an I am statement and it's said in the positive.
So you may be already feeling into a sankalpa for yourself but you may also use one of these I am opening to my potential or I am acknowledging my own mystery or I am listening to the rumblings of my soul.
There's no right or wrong whatever you choose is perfectly beautiful.
The way we work with a sankalpa is we say it silently to ourselves on the arc of a breath and we do that for three breaths.
So we'll begin now inhaling and on the exhale silently saying your sankalpa to yourself.
Two more times at your own pace and you can release that.
I'm gonna guide you through a rotation of consciousness bringing your awareness to different parts of the body.
This is effortless you're just going to follow my voice.
So as I bring your awareness to different places in the body with my voice might you imagine that in that place pressure tightness even emotions that are there are just gently bubbling up and evaporating dissolving and being given back to its source.
Might you imagine that gentle evaporation of the things that are being held there that effortless bubbling up and out evaporating of what's no longer needed.

Off the whole body.
And just for a moment bringing your awareness to your breath.
Just noticing your inhale and your exhale without manipulating it.
Just becoming aware of your body breathing you.
Effortless.
And beautifully you.
Your body knows what you need right now.
Just becoming aware of your inhale and your exhale without changing it.
Deepening it.
Manipulating it.
Just witnessing it.
You might bring your awareness there with a gentle curiosity.
Inhaling and exhaling in your own rhythm.
And might you imagine on your next inhale that your inhale is born in the heart space.
Opening out and expanding.
And on the exhale that breath brings itself back to the point of creation.
The heart.
As you inhale might you imagine the inhale is born in the heart.
Expanding and widening.
And on the exhale that breath goes right back to the point of creation in the heart.
Might you imagine the life cycle of each breath.
Beginning and ending in the heart.
In the center of the heart.
Might you imagine the life cycle of each breath.
Beginning and ending in the center of your heart.
The point of creation.
And might you imagine on your next inhale that as that breath is born in the center of your heart.
It expands up to the crown chakra.
The top of your head.
And as you exhale it comes back to that place of creation.
The center of the heart.
That it comes back to the place of its birth.
The center of the heart.
Might you imagine on each breath as you inhale that breath is born in the center of the heart.
And expands all the way up to the top of the head.
And as you exhale that breath comes back down to the center of the heart.
In your own time.
Your own space.
Your own rhythm.
Allowing your body to breathe you.
Just imagining that that breath is born in the center of the heart.
It expands all the way up to the top of the head.
And on the exhale the breath comes all the way back down to the center of the heart.
Just witnessing this life cycle of each breath.
Just witnessing so many breaths coming and going through a full life cycle.
And might you imagine as you're breathing and aware of your breath.
That your breath in your inhale is born in the center of your heart.
And it expands all the way up to the top of your head.
But also down to the bottom of your feet at the same time.
And as you exhale that breath is drawn back to the place of its birth.
In the center of the heart.
Imagining as you inhale the breath is born in the heart.
And expands the full length of you from the top of your head to the bottoms of your feet.
And as you exhale that same breath draws back in to the place of its birth.
In the center of your heart.
Might you imagine witnessing and being aware of the life cycle of each breath.
The miracle of each breath.
The mystery of each breath.
And how it breathes you.
Imagining the inhale being born in the center of the heart.
Expanding the length of your body from the top of your head to the bottoms of your feet.
And when you exhale that that same breath is drawn back to its place of birth.
In the center of your heart.
You can release that now.
Our bodies are miracles.
They are magic.
They are mysterious.
Beautiful.
They tell us so much.
Might you place your awareness now on the places in your body where you feel the mysteries.
Where in your body do you feel the sense of mystery?
A sense of magic?
A sense of miracle?
Where do you feel the limitless?
The expansion?
Where do you feel the mystery?
Placing your awareness in all the parts in your body where you feel this deep magical mystery of our body.
Might you place your awareness now in the places in your body that feel familiar and known.
Where in your body do you feel familiar?
Safe?
Where you feel you know that place?
It makes sense.
Placing your awareness now in the places that are known to you.
That you have gotten to know extremely well.
Might you place your awareness now on the places in your body where you feel the mysteries.
The places in your body that hold mystery for you.
That are magical.
Miraculous.
That maybe there are no words for the feelings here.
Where in your body do you feel the mystery of life?
Placing your awareness now back in the parts of the body that feel familiar.
That you know.
That you understand.
Where are the parts in your body that you've gotten to know really well?
Like an old friend.
Placing your awareness on these places in the body that feel familiar.
Like an old friendship.
And might you now place your awareness on both places in the body.
The places where you feel mystery.
A sense of magic or a sense of miracle.
And the places that feel like an old friend.
Familiar.
Known.
Placing your awareness on both of these places in your body simultaneously.
Together.
The places where you feel the mystery pulsing through.
And the places that feel familiar.
Like an old friendship.
Rekindled.
Let that go now.
A black sky.
A shooting star.
A spark.
In a campfire.
A night blooming flower.
Blackness.
A pearl at the ocean's bottom.
A spherical light in a dark room.
A full moon.
The potential of a newborn baby.
The mystery.
Loving silence.
And simply bringing your awareness back to the sankalpa that you used in the beginning of this yoga nidra.
It might have been I am opening to my potential.
I am opening to my potential.
Or it might have been I am acknowledging my own mystery.
Or even I am listening to the rumblings of my soul.
And we'll repeat it each on the arc of a breath.
Three times.
Inhaling.
Allowing that to be released.
Just beginning to inhale a bit deeper.
Inhaling to a count of four and exhaling to a count of six.
Inhaling.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Exhaling.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Five.
Six.
Inhaling.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Exhaling.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Five.
Six.
And one more time.
Inhaling.
Two.
Three.
Four.
And exhaling.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Five.
Six.
And letting that go.
Just taking a nice big inhale through your nose.
Opening your mouth and sighing it out.
You might want to add a little sound on your breath.
Inhaling into your belly.
Opening your mouth and sighing it out.
Inhaling one last time into your belly.
Opening your mouth and sighing it out.
You might want to begin to wiggle your fingers or your toes.
You might want to give yourself a little gentle shake or a full body stretch is one of my favorites.
You might want to stay laying on the ground or in your chair for a few minutes.
Or you may want to sit up,
Bring your hands to your heart.
We're working with the mysteries of the heart,
The magic,
The wonder of the heart.
With the potential that we hold in the unknown.
So you may even want to after this is over,
Grab a journal and write a bit about how you feel about the unknown and how you feel about the familiar.
You might want to write the rumblings of your heart.
The rumblings of your soul.
You might have some insights throughout the day from this deep encounter with the center of our heart.
Write those down.
Let them out.
Cherish them.
Thank you so much for joining me on this Yoga Nidra.
I am so honored to be able to offer these for you.
Please feel free to leave me a comment.
Let me know how your experience of this Yoga Nidra was.
I really appreciate hearing the feedback.

Until then,
Namaste.
