Hi,
I'm Jeremy.
I work in brain and spine surgery where the very small signals in the nervous system can change everything.
These short practices help explore how small adjustments in the body can create clear attention and less effort in everyday life.
Before we begin,
Just take a moment to notice how your body is supported.
If you're sitting,
You might feel the weight of the seat beneath you.
And let the spine grow a little taller over that support.
If you're standing,
Notice your feet meeting the ground.
Nothing to change.
Just letting the body know where it is.
And your hands can rest wherever they're comfortable.
Palms down if you want a little grounding.
Palms up if you'd like a sense of openness.
Feels better.
And you can keep your eyes open or allow them to softly close.
For the next few minutes,
The intention is simple.
A little less effort in the face and neck.
Here's something interesting about the nervous system.
When the body prepares for effort,
The jaw often tightens and the tongue presses toward the roof of the mouth.
Most people don't notice that happening.
It's an old reflex pattern.
It's helpful if you're lifting something heavy or preparing to move quickly,
But the body sometimes forgets to turn that pattern off.
So let's check.
Without changing anything yet,
Just notice your jaw.
Are the teeth lightly touching?
Is the tongue pressing upward?
There's nothing wrong if it is.
We're just noticing.
Now try a small adjustment.
Let the tongue settle gently in the bottom of the mouth.
Let the teeth separate slightly.
You don't need to open the mouth.
I'm just looking for 2% less effort.
Often,
The muscles alongside the sides of the face soften when that happens.
And when the jaw softens,
The neck often follows.
You might also notice the area just below your ears.
The muscles that run down toward your collarbones.
If they feel active,
See what happens when you release 2% of that effort.
You're not collapsing.
Just letting the work reduce.
Let yourself stay here for a few easy breaths through your nose.
Nothing special.
We're just noticing.
And now briefly return to the intention we set at the beginning.
A little less effort in the face and the neck.
You didn't force relaxation.
You simply removed a little extra effort in the system.
A softer jaw.
A quieter tongue.
2% is enough.
As you move into the next moments of your day,
You might occasionally check in with this area.
Noticing when the jaw is working harder than it needs to.
And allowing it to soften.
Just a small signal to the nervous system that the effort is finished.
Small input.
Clear shift.
Take an easy breath in through your nose.
And let it go.
Without drama.
And that's enough for now.
