We begin by bringing our attention to the state of our body by doing a well-being check,
Asking our body if there is any pain anywhere,
If there is any discomfort and if not,
Seeking permission to center our attention in this moment,
Noticing what we are bringing to this moment,
A certain direction we are moving in already,
A certain desire,
Desire to solve a particular problem which has been occupying our minds since the morning,
Desire to learn something or unlearn something or perhaps a sense of anticipation,
Waiting for something to happen that may change our experience,
Noticing the subtle draws and the pulls at the conscious and subconscious levels,
Perhaps there are thoughts about tomorrow,
Going back to work and dealing with some challenge there,
Perhaps some worry about what is happening in our relationship,
A lingering feeling of disappointment,
Anger at someone,
Noticing all the movements currently happening in our mind,
Simply noticing.
And as we notice these things one by one,
Asking ourselves if the mind can gently set them aside,
Realizing we don't need to find stillness,
It is already there,
No action seems necessary,
The only thing we have to do to return to stillness is to let go of the actions that don't need to be taken,
Or if I can be here in this state of no trying,
Of no striving,
Of no reaching,
No grasping,
Then all my energy is here,
By letting things be,
By letting things go,
Stillness returns to me and this stillness has a peculiar quality that it wants to flow,
That it wants to act,
It wants to do something with all its newfound energy.
