Welcome,
My name is Dr.
Piper Grant.
This meditation is for the moments when doubt creeps in,
When you wonder if you're doing all of this mothering right.
This isn't about convincing yourself of anything.
It's about coming back to a place inside you that is steady,
Even while you're learning.
To begin,
I ask you to take a seat,
And let's just start with a slow breath in through your nose,
And a long,
Grounding exhale through your mouth.
As we move into this practice,
Allow your breath to slow,
Allow your body to settle,
And let's just begin to find ease.
Bringing attention to your feet,
Notice their contact with the ground beneath you.
Imagine that the ground is solid,
Dependable.
It's not something that you have to test or question,
It is simply there.
Let your weight settle downwards,
As if you don't have to hold yourself up so much right now.
You are simply here,
With your breath,
In this present moment.
Let's take another slow breath in through your nose.
I invite us to gently begin to meet the doubt within us.
If you can bring to your mind's eye,
The doubts that show up for you as a mother,
We are not here to analyze them,
Or push them away,
But maybe you can hear them.
Are they asking,
Am I doing enough,
Am I messing this up,
Or saying things like everyone else seems to know what they're doing?
What does your doubt sound like?
What is it saying to you?
Instead of arguing with these thoughts,
Imagine placing them just in front of you,
Like voices passing through,
Not voices in charge,
They're just passing by.
We aren't here to argue with them,
Or do anything with them,
We just notice them.
We notice that even with these thoughts present,
You are still here.
You are breathing,
You are standing.
Now imagine something steady,
Growing from the soles of your feet.
Can you imagine roots extending downwards into the ground beneath you?
These roots do not rush,
They do not need permission,
They just grow at the pace that they need to grow because that's what they're designed to do.
Can you imagine with each breath,
The roots,
With each breath you can feel them anchoring you.
With each breath,
These roots continue to support you,
Holding you upright.
This here is confidence,
This support is confidence that doesn't shout,
It doesn't compare,
It doesn't perform.
These roots offer you the confidence of being supported while you learn.
I invite you to imagine yourself standing exactly where you are right now.
Not ahead of you,
Not behind you,
Not needing to catch up.
With these roots here,
Notice how it feels to stand here without measuring yourself against anyone else.
You don't need to know everything to belong here.
You don't need to get it right all the time to be rooted.
You are allowed to learn as you go.
You are able to trust yourself in this moment.
I invite you to give yourself permission to let the following words settle into the roots beneath you.
I am allowed to learn as I go.
I am allowed to trust myself in this moment.
Taking a slow inhale,
And a long deep exhale that drops through your body down into the ground.
Notice the steadiness that remains,
Even if there is uncertainty still nearby.
This here is what confidence actually feels like.
It is not certainty,
But it is groundedness in the middle of not knowing.
When you're ready,
I invite you to gently bring awareness back to the room that you are in,
Back into the space where you are.
Feel your body,
Your breath,
Your presence,
And know that you can always return to this place,
This rooted place,
The roots that exist below you.
And whenever doubt gets loud,
I invite you to find this space.
Thank you for joining me today in this practice.
Be well.
