Hello and namaste.
Welcome to today's practice.
If you're here,
We're going to get grounded.
We're going to ground our energy.
So I will invite you to find a comfortable sitting position.
If sitting is uncomfortable or unavailable to you,
You're welcome to lay down as well.
But finding a comfortable posture,
Feeling your connection with the floor below you,
Feeling the spine upright,
Shoulders relaxed,
Jaw relaxed,
Closing the eyes,
Resting the palms,
Coming back to you,
Coming back to this moment,
Inhaling,
Filling the lungs,
And exhaling.
Noticing the chest as it rises and falls.
Feeling the expansion of your body.
Of the skin,
The lungs.
Expansion in the lower back as you inhale.
And noticing the release,
The softening,
On the exhale.
Fully expelling all air from the lungs.
And breathing in.
One really great way to ground yourself before getting into a seated practice is by doing a body scan.
And a body scan is just taking a mental inventory of all of your different body parts and just checking in with them,
Noticing them,
Paying attention to them.
And by the time you get through your body,
Usually there is a much deeper sense of presence and groundedness and more availability for you to sink in,
Relax,
And allow.
So,
With your mind's eye,
Or just the sensation of your awareness,
Become aware of your feet.
Continuing to breathe at your own pace.
Breathing in and out as you become aware of your toes,
The pinky toe,
The big toe,
And all the ones in between.
Your heel,
The sole of your foot,
The top of your feet.
Bringing your awareness into the ankles.
Noticing the shins and the calves.
Bringing your awareness into the knees,
Both knees simultaneously.
And becoming aware of your thighs and the sensation of you seated.
Taking a minute to allow yourself to be heavy and allow yourself to connect with your own center of gravity Bringing your awareness into the belly and the abdomen.
Just noticing,
Bringing breath,
Awareness to the belly.
Releasing any tension or clenching.
Noticing the sides,
The side bodies,
Noticing how the hips connect with the abdomen.
Sensing the rectum,
The sexual organs,
The pelvic floor.
Sensing the spine as we continue to travel and bring our awareness up from the pelvic floor up through the lower back into the upper belly,
The chest.
Dropping the shoulders,
Noticing and creating a freeness in the neck.
Allowing the arms to be soft,
Arms to be free,
Relaxed.
Softening the forehead,
Allowing the crown to be open,
Weightless.
And from this place,
I'd like you to begin to imagine that there is a beautiful sun,
A brilliant sun above you.
See and feel the light of this sun shine upon you.
There is a ring,
A column of golden light shining down upon you.
This light continues to travel down into the earth,
Through the ground,
Even down through your spine into the earth.
You feel the sensation of this energy going deeper into the ground and you are enjoying it.
Allowing this golden light to bathe you and noticing any sensations that are arising.
This golden light allows you to plant your roots wherever you are.
So feel yourself begin to root down into the earth.
See the roots growing out from the base of your spine.
As you continue to ground and root down,
You begin to feel a nourishment rise up through the roots.
The sensation of dampness,
The smell of the woods,
Of soil,
Begins to fill your nose as you begin to become like a tree.
The energy of the earth is rising up into you.
You feel yourself absorbing light from the roots up into the feet,
Into the legs,
Into the base of the spine.
And as this earth energy enters,
Your skin begins to turn,
To bark.
As this energy continues to travel from the base of the spine up the trunk of your body,
Into the belly,
Into the chest,
Allowing yourself to be like a tree.
And as this energy rises to the neck and the head,
You begin to feel a sensation of branching.
You can see or feel your head surrounded and contained within a halo or orb of branches.
These antennae allow you to gather more golden light.
Feel your branches absorbing and interacting with this light.
It feels so good to receive this.
And begin to notice,
Perhaps,
Any colors or blooms that may be arising from the branches as you just simply continue to rest,
Be with your breath,
And allow yourself to continue grounding your energy.
Feeling the sensation of the heavens meeting the earth and the exchange.
Feeling the energy of the earth coming up from below you to greet the energy of the heavens.
We are like trees.
We are divine vessel of exchange.
With each breath,
We are converting gases,
Altering pH,
And exchanging with our environment.
You can continue this for as long as you feel guided to do so.
And once you feel complete,
You may wish to shift into a seated breath practice or move on to something else.
Much love.
