Welcome,

Welcome to your new year intention setting practice.

For this practice,

You will need a few sheets of paper or your journal and a pen.

And then when you've gathered your items,

Take some time to settle in,

To transition out of ordinary time and space and to drop into a deeper space within yourself,

Allowing yourself this time to honor this gateway that we are standing at,

This place of endings and beginnings,

Of leaving what has been in the past and of crossing the threshold to what will be.

I welcome you and honor you for being here and for consciously taking the time to pause and mark this transition.

Because how we step in and step out of these transitions can make a big difference in how we embrace change and make choices that align with our deepest truths and values.

Over the years,

I've come to cherish this time,

This time of pausing and reflecting,

Of giving thanks,

Of releasing and of setting clear intentions for the new year to come.

It's been a process that I've been doing for many,

Many years and I know it's been a catalyst for my growth and for me to actualize my goals and dreams.

So I'm happy to share this with you here and now.

We'll begin with an opening meditation.

So if you haven't done so already,

Just putting everything to one side,

Getting comfortable,

Taking a moment to connect with your breath as you breathe in and as you breathe out.

Making a shift in wherever your awareness has been so far,

Making a shift to arrive here in this now sacred moment in time and space,

Aligning here with the highest part of yourself.

And so I'm inviting you to connect to this deeper part within yourself,

Connecting to that space where you have access to your inner knowing,

Your greatest wisdom,

Your gifts,

Your strengths.

Taking in a breath and expanding all your energy out to the outer edges of the room.

Taking in another breath and gathering in this deepest part of you that knows what's possible for you,

Gathering in this energy to help you cross over into the new year.

And so from this place,

We reclaim all parts of ourselves,

Leaving behind all self-doubt and negative talk so we can move forward in wholeness and alignment.

I invite you to arrive in this place with openness,

Receptivity,

Aliveness.

And then let's begin,

Let's begin this process.

And let's look at and acknowledge and celebrate the wins and successes from this last year.

So taking a moment to look back as if you were watching this past year,

What has been some of your biggest wins and successes this past year?

What are you most proud of?

You can take a moment to write them down.

We want to take time to bring awareness to them,

To acknowledge and celebrate what you're most proud of.

And maybe you started a new business,

Maybe you completed a course,

A training,

Or maybe you took on the role of mother,

Of caretaker.

Whatever it was,

Take a moment to acknowledge your successes,

Your wins.

Maybe this year was the year where you took big risks,

Where you showed up in full presence,

Where you invested in yourself,

Noticing the courage and all the capacities that were needed for you to be successful this year.

Or taking a moment to just jot that down.

And then when you're ready,

Take a moment to express gratitude,

Gratitude to yourself for all the ways that you accessed your superpowers,

Your capabilities,

Your strengths,

Your determination to make it to the finish line and to complete whatever it was that you were working on.

So really celebrating yourself and thanking yourself.

And then we're going to move on to the next step.

We're going to take a moment to bring awareness to the people in your life,

Those that were there to support you,

The new people who showed up in your life,

And those who exited your life.

Just take a moment to acknowledge and give thanks to those people that played a significant role in your life this past year.

How did they enhance your life?

And how did they help you grow?

Maybe they presented challenges in your life.

And so we thank them and we bless them for all the gifts,

Even the difficult ones that they brought into our lives.

We take in a breath,

We extend our energies of gratitude to them,

We bless them.

And for those who no longer serve in our lives,

We thank them,

We bless them,

And we release them.

With great tenderness,

We move on to the challenges,

The setbacks,

Or the things that have been difficult for you.

Perhaps you've had some losses,

Perhaps there are things that you have struggled with,

That you hoped you would be finished with by now,

And yet they are lingering.

So we want to create a space to bring the light of your own being to these areas that have been challenging,

So that we may touch them with grace,

Empathy,

And transmute them into something new.

And I want you to do this without bringing in any shame,

Guilt,

Or judgment.

We're just going to leave that to the side.

So I'd like to invite you to reflect on what has been the greatest challenges that you have overcome or that you are still in process with.

Acknowledging the things that were hard,

And acknowledging the ways in which you grew and expanded.

Bring your awareness to how you have grown and how you have become stronger through these experiences.

And take a moment to pause and write them down.

You may want to pause the recording and just write what were your greatest challenges and the setbacks that you had and that you've overcome.

And what were the skills or capacities that you drew upon to overcome them.

So it's really important to highlight that.

And finally,

How did you grow?

How did these challenges assist you in your growth?

Recognizing that we are human,

And to be human is to experience challenges,

Difficulties.

And it's not that there's anything wrong with us or that we're doing something wrong.

It's just that we're being human and that's part of our experience.

We need to take responsibility for that.

That we alone determine whether or not we are whole.

That you alone have the power to bring grace,

Healing and forgiveness in for yourselves.

And so I'll ask you,

What do you need to let go of?

Who is it time to forgive?

And what needs to be forgiven within yourself?

So take a moment to connect with what you most want to release and leave behind in this year.

Again,

Pausing the recording if you need to spend some time with this.

And then jotting three things down that you want to release and let go of.

And it could be anger,

Resentment,

Regret,

An old story about who you are.

What are you committed to leaving behind this year?

And then once you've written them down,

I invite you to just crumple them up,

Put them in a ball and throw them over your shoulder as a symbol of leaving them in the past,

Leaving them behind you.

And then later on,

You can take them outside,

You can burn them if you'd like,

Or you can throw them in the trash can.

And then on another piece of paper,

I invite you to write down what you are committing to for this new coming year.

What are you taking with you?

All the skills and capacities that you have harnessed throughout this year.

So what can you welcome in for the new year?

I'm going to ask you to drop down into your body and to tune into your desires.

What do you most deeply desire to experience?

What do you most deeply desire to express?

How does this feel in your body?

How does it feel to move in this way?

What does it look like?

What does it smell like?

What does it taste like?

Just imagining yourself at the end of 2023.

So a year from now,

Who do you want to be?

How do you want to feel?

What have you accomplished?

What are you committing to?

So in a few words or a short sentence,

What would be a theme for this year that brings this all together for you as your intention?

And now I'm going to ask you to come to a standing position.

If you've been seated,

Come and stand up and feel your feet firmly grounded into the earth and take up space.

Take in a breath and allow your arms to grow up towards the sky.

Feel your energy expand as you breathe in and take up all the space that you need.

And take up the full power of your wingspan.

Take in a breath and let your energy expand.

Feel the energy of this new year ahead of you and all the possibilities that it offers and declare in a powerful way all that you are calling in.

So in your own words,

Take a moment to give life and energy to this intention and speak it out loud.

This is the year that I intend to.

In gratitude,

We say thank you,

Thank you,

Thank you.

And so it is and so it shall be.
