Welcome and settle in.
Today we are going to do a practice called Awakening Awareness that I learned from Qigong Master Robert Pang.
It's also going to be a practice that our eyes will be open for a portion of the time.
Which we'll experiment more with in other ways later.
So this practice can be done very quickly in a matter of seconds at any point throughout your day.
For today,
We'll do an extended version,
About 10 minutes long.
Take a seat.
Have some good posture,
Get your back straight.
Settle in.
Let's get your hands in a comfortable position.
Begin with your eyes opened.
Take a deep breath.
And take note.
Of the world outside,
The world without,
The external world.
Take in your surroundings.
What do you see?
What do you hear?
And he smells.
Take note of what's in the room or space around you.
Their furniture,
Pictures on the wall.
Electronics.
Get a clear picture of everything.
Outside externally from from you.
Of the objective world.
Close your eyes and focus instead on the world within,
On the internal world.
On your thoughts.
Your feelings.
Do you have any physical sensations in your body?
Right now.
Any thoughts running through the back of your mind?
So to speak.
This is the subjective world,
The world within.
Now keep your eyes closed.
And turn your attention to the external world.
With eyes still closed.
Picture what you just saw externally.
Picture the room or space that you're sitting in.
Focus on any sounds that may be coming.
From outside of you.
Without looking at them,
So to speak,
With your eyes.
You can still see.
And here.
And smell the external world even with eyes closed.
Your external senses still work.
Open your eyes.
And instead of looking outside,
Turn your attention within.
To the world within with eyes still open.
Focus not on anything that you see or hear,
But on what you feel and think internally.
Even with your eyes open.
You absolutely can focus on the world within.
You can turn your attention inward.
And although you may see the room in front of you,
You can look.
At your thoughts.
If you catch my drift.
Now with eyes still open.
Allow your attention.
Allow your awareness.
To take in both the internal and external worlds at the same time.
Focus on one or the other.
Keep your awareness open.
Taking in.
All thoughts and feelings,
As well as all external.
Sights and sounds.
This is her.
Wider,
Vaster,
More spaciousness awareness.
Reality,
This is getting closer to the true.
State of awareness.
Because we are aware of.
All things at all,
All the time.
We're not always aware of that,
However.
And finally.
.
.
Close your eyes.
While keeping your awareness wide open.
To the outside and inside worlds.
We are aware of all things all the time.
That is our true state.
It's just that our attention,
Our focus,
Gets pushed and pulled in many directions.
And that's okay.
But we must practice returning to this state.
So that we can do so more often.
Awareness.
Essentially has no form or shape.
It's not divided.
Our focus may be,
But awareness is not.
And as we come to the end of the session.
Now,
Last step.
Just let go.
Just let everything be.
Try not to think about the inside and outside worlds.
Just.
.
.
Become aware of awareness itself.
This is our true nature.
This is our default state.
And the more that we practice this,
The more that we relax back into this while we're sitting or sitting and practicing,
The more that we can tap into it throughout our day.
You can stay here as long as you like.
Thank you for your practice and your attention and your awareness.
Namaste.
And have a great day.
