Welcome to this three-minute meditation with Coach Matt.
Hi,
I'm Matt.
Thanks for being here.
You won't need the video for this meditation,
But if you're watching,
That's fine.
If you can,
Wherever you are,
Just maybe stop what you're doing and,
You know,
Take a seat if possible with some good posture.
But even if you're standing or moving around and just listening to this as you go,
That's okay too.
So,
Of course,
We're going to start things off by taking a deep breath in through the nose and out through the mouth just to settle in.
I'm often asked in meditation,
Do I need to close my eyes?
And although if you're watching this video,
You may see that at times I will close mine,
They're open right now.
And the answer is that in meditation,
There are times when we may do both different types of meditation.
And they don't all mean to be sitting still cross-legged with your eyes closed and your arms at your sides.
Sometimes that's great.
Oftentimes that's great,
But it's not always the case.
You can practice meditation virtually anywhere in different forms.
In fact,
One of the big things that people miss with meditation is that they take on a seated practice for years and years in some cases in the effort to get really good at sitting down and meditating.
But then sometimes they fail to bring that quality to the rest of their life when they're not having a seated practice.
And that unfortunately may miss the point.
So with that said,
I'll stop talking now and just close your eyes if you can.
If not,
Just take a few more deep breaths and remember that however you practice meditation is almost certainly better than not practicing it at all.
It can be helpful to bring a slight smile to your lips.
Thank yourself for taking this brief pause from your day.
Maybe this is a moment of transition between two work projects or two personal things or any other two things.
And that's a great time to take a pause,
Even if it's just for one minute.
Let's take another deep breath,
Inhale through the nose,
A nice long,
Slow exhale out through the mouth.
Moving forward,
I'm going to teach you as much as I can about meditation and all the different styles that I've tried and learned.
But for today,
I just want to say thank you for getting started.
Our three minutes are almost up.
So thank yourself for stopping to listen and take a pause and a deep breath.
Have a great day.
