Welcome to sitting meditation.
You close your eyes,
You sit on the edge of the chair so your center of your body is activated so you are not going to fall asleep.
And in the beginning you scan your body from top to the bottom,
From the bottom to the top.
And notice your body is fully relaxed,
No tension whatsoever.
Once your body is fully relaxed,
You be sure your feet is very much anchored to the ground.
If you look how I sit,
So it's fully relaxed,
I can sit like that for a few hours when I am conditioned this body to be still.
Stillness meditation bring a lot of benefit of observing what is as it is,
Responding to the sensation,
Not to react to the sensation.
And when I observe the body and I observe the breath and I observe the thoughts,
I can be,
I can be one with what is as it is.
This is the practice of sitting meditation.
Nothing about controlling,
Nothing about getting rid of anything.
It's all about being with what is as it is,
Moment by moment as it is.
Then you notice the body is breathing,
You are aware.
Incoming breath,
Stay for sometimes,
Pass away.
I am aware.
Being still,
Although the body,
The mind wants to scratch,
Wants to move because when you start to sit still,
Unpleasant sensation will arise.
Being uncomfortable,
That's part of the practice to meet what is as it is.
The cause of addiction,
The cause of suffering is not willing to sit with the unpleasant sensation,
With the pain as it is.
The conditioning is to run away.
What we develop the skill with the mind right now,
The brain have the ability to create a space to contain more unpleasant sensation.
The more I can contain unpleasant sensation,
The more I can be with that and I'm not reacting to that.
I don't have to run away or cover it with pleasure sensation.
It's applied for every moment in your life.
Although the practice is stillness,
Close your eyes,
Relax your body.
It appears not practical at all,
But it's very practical because it's working on every cell in your body.
When your function during your day and you're less edgy,
Less upset,
Tension,
Instead of reacting to what is,
You respond to what is and that's because you take few minutes every day,
Twice a day,
Sitting with yourself when you don't want to sit with yourself and observe the breath,
Observe the sensation,
Observe the thoughts as it is.
Sometimes the mind is react to this stillness meditation and start to spin past,
Future,
Worried,
Try to solve a problem.
As soon as you catch yourself thinking,
That's okay.
Bring the question,
Who is aware?
Don't answer.
Go back to the breath and start again.
Observe what is as it is.
Again,
The mind is spinning.
Notice that.
Who is aware?
Back to the breath.
You don't control your breath.
You don't count the breath.
You don't try to remove anything or gain anything.
Just simply being aware as it is,
Moment by moment.
Breathe in and breathe out.
There's nothing to achieve when you sit with yourself.
You're already being success the moment you start to be here as it is.
Knowing oneself,
It's sitting with oneself.
Observing the inner energy,
The inner movement,
The inner thoughts.
And you can add when you have the energy,
Who would I be without label this sensation?
Would I be without giving a name for these thoughts?
Right,
Wrong,
Good,
Bad.
Who would I be without these thoughts?
If you plant the seed for who is aware and who would I be without these thoughts,
It will support you to come back to the body,
To the five senses and connect.
Because meditation is about connecting.
Connecting with oneself.
Connecting to the sensation.
Connecting to the energy within yourself.
Connecting to the breath.
Connecting to the thoughts.
As it is,
Moment by moment.
Be gentle with yourself.
It's not about achieving.
It's not about becoming.
If you feel you struggle with sitting with yourself,
Stillness meditation,
You do something off.
This kind of meditation designed to find the path of least resistance.
Completely as it is.
Flow.
And with time,
When you repeat this process every day,
Twice a day or more,
You will be able to master,
To have the knowledge and the skill to work with what is as it is.
That's the essence of meditation.
To train the mind from reacting to what is,
To respond to what is and rest into what is.
Our mind is programmed to become,
To become stronger,
To become smarter,
To become different than what is.
Now we recondition the mind,
Which is the brain,
To appreciate what is,
To acknowledge,
To smile and start again.
We all have this skill we forgot.
Stillness meditation will allow you to connect back to yourself,
To know yourself and to connect to everything and everyone around you.
Just be aware.
Ask yourself,
Who is aware?
Who would I be without label these thoughts?
And rest into your body.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
