Hello and welcome.
This is your time to let go,
To rest,
To surrender into deep sleep.
If you haven't already,
Lie down in your bed now and make yourself completely comfortable.
Gently adjust the pillow beneath your head.
Allow the blankets to settle around you,
Wrapping you in warmth and safety.
Feel your body sinking into the mattress,
Supported from head to toe.
Notice how the surface beneath you holds you with ease,
As though the bed itself is inviting you to rest more deeply.
Feel the gentle weight of the blankets covering you,
Their warmth and softness wrapping you in safety.
Take a slow steady breath in through the nose and release it with a long gentle exhale through the mouth.
Breathing in,
Calm.
Breathing out,
Release.
Again,
A deep breath in through the nose and a long slow breath out through the mouth,
Sinking deeper each time.
With every breath,
You are drawn further into comfort,
As if gravity is guiding you down into rest,
Down into peace.
Notice how your body begins to grow heavier,
How your muscles soften,
And how a quiet stillness is already beginning to spread within you.
There's nothing else you need to do now.
No tasks,
No effort,
No striving.
Just breathing,
Resting,
Surrendering into this gentle moment.
If you begin to feel drowsy,
Or even drift into sleep,
That's truly the best.
Your body knows how to rest,
And your mind knows how to let go.
Your subconscious will take in what it needs,
Where your body sinks deeper and deeper into nourishing,
Peaceful rest.
Now let's begin a gentle body scan and release.
Bring awareness to the crown of your head.
Imagine a soft wave of relaxation beginning here,
Like warm sunlight or a gentle mist.
It washes across your scalp,
Softening every tiny muscle,
Dissolving every chase of tension.
Feel the wave moving down to your forehead,
Smoothing away any lines,
Easing the space between your brows.
Your forehead becomes wide,
Calm,
And serene.
Allow this calm to flow into your eyes,
Eyelids heavy,
Melting into stillness.
The muscles around your eyes soften,
While behind the eyes,
The mind begins to grow quiet,
Like ripples settling on a still pond.
Now notice your cheeks and your jaw.
Unclench the teeth.
Soften the lips,
Letting them part slightly.
Feel your entire face,
Smooth and relaxed,
As though bathed in gentle golden light.
Bring awareness to your neck and shoulders.
Imagine them releasing their burdens,
Dropping away the weight of the day.
Your shoulders sink deeply into the bed,
Heavy and supported.
Relief spreads through this area as you completely let go.
Feel the arms now,
Heavy and warm.
From the upper arms to the elbows,
From the forearms to the wrists,
Hands resting easily,
Fingers loose and soft.
It's as though a gentle current is flowing through,
Relaxing you deeper with every breath.
Shift awareness to your chest and heart space.
Notice the natural rhythm of your breath.
Steady,
Calm,
Unbothered.
Each inhale brings quiet nourishment.
Each exhale carries away tension and worry.
Now soften into the belly.
Feel the abdomen gently rise and fall.
Each breath like a wave,
Expanding and releasing.
All the muscles here soften.
As though they're floating weightlessly on calm water.
Bring awareness to your hips,
The pelvis and thighs.
Notice their heaviness,
Sinking deeper into the mattress.
Relax your knees,
Your calves and your ankles.
Feel the weight of your lower legs dissolving downward.
Now to your feet and toes.
Let them soften completely.
Imagine the soles of your feet releasing every last chase of tension.
As though it is flowing gently out of you and into the earth.
Your whole body is now relaxed.
Head to toe.
Every part heavy and warm.
Completely at rest.
Completely safe.
Feel yourself sinking into the bed.
Fully supported.
Nothing to hold.
Nothing to carry.
You are ready to drift even deeper into peace.
If you are still awake,
Let's bring gentle awareness to your breathing.
Notice the natural rise and fall of each breath.
Breathing in softly through the nose and out gently through the nose.
Feel how cool air enters,
Soothing and clear.
And how warm air leaves,
Soft and releasing.
Let's begin a calming rhythm.
Inhale through the nose,
One.
Exhale through the nose,
One,
Two,
Three.
Breathing in calm.
Breathing out release.
Inhaling ease.
Exhaling everything you no longer need.
Each breath flows like a gentle tide.
In the wave rising quietly.
Out the wave retreating slow and steady.
If you like,
You may sigh out once through the mouth gently,
As though releasing the very last of the day.
And then return to breathing peacefully through the nose.
Soft and natural as the body prefers.
Allow your whole body to follow the rhythm of the breath.
As you breathe in a gentle lifting.
As you breathe out a soft sinking down.
If thoughts arise,
There is no need to chase them away.
Simply notice them and let them float by.
Like small clouds drifting across a wide quiet sky.
Breath by breath,
The mind grows quieter.
Like ripples fading from the surface of a still pond.
Your thoughts soften,
Dissolve,
Leaving only stillness.
Let the breath carry you deeper into calm.
In through the nose,
Out through the nose.
Steady,
Effortless,
Natural.
Now with your body heavy and calm,
Let your imagination open gently and drift into a peaceful scene.
Above you picture a wide night sky.
Countless stars shimmer softly overhead.
Not bright,
Not sharp,
But gentle.
Like tiny lanterns glowing in the distance.
Feel yourself resting beneath this sky.
Safe,
Supported,
At ease.
Every breath you take connects you with this vast stillness.
In through the nose,
Out through the nose.
Quiet and natural.
As you breathe,
Notice how the stars seem to breathe with you.
Each inhale draws them closer,
Glowing a little brighter.
Each exhale sends them softly,
Drifting back into the night.
Now imagine the ground beneath you.
Solid,
Steady,
Holding you completely.
Like the earth itself is cradling you in its arms.
Feel the gentle rhythm of the earth.
Timeless,
Steady,
Unmoving.
With every breath,
You are more deeply connected.
Perhaps you begin to hear the sound of the ocean.
Soft waves rolling in,
Soft waves flowing out.
The tide is slow and endless.
Just like your breathing.
In and out.
Each wave carries you further into peace.
Each wave draws you deeper into rest.
Allow the scene to soften now.
The stars,
The sky,
The ocean waves,
All fading into a gentle blur.
Until there is nothing left but stillness.
Let yourself float here.
Surrounded by calm,
Drifting toward sleep.
There is nothing left to do.
Know where you need to be.
Your body knows how to sleep.
Your mind knows how to let go.
Each breath draws you deeper and deeper.
Into peace.
Surrender now.
Rest fully.
Surrender now.
Into deep sleep.
Rest fully.
Sleep deeply.
Sweet dreams.
