Hi there and welcome to your guided meditation on gratitude.
To start,
Find yourself a comfortable seat with your spine tall and your sit bones grounding down into the earth.
Imagine there's a piece of string drawing you up from the crown of your head while at the same time relaxing your shoulders and melting down.
Closing down the eyes and softening the lips,
Allowing a gentle lift from the corners of your mouth to form,
Gently guiding your awareness to your breath.
Start to notice as the air travels in and out of the nostrils.
As you continue to observe the breath,
You might notice that your mind starts to wander.
Don't worry,
This is very normal.
In fact,
It's the very nature of our mind to drift off into thought.
Rather than judging yourself,
Can you label this as thinking?
Then gently return your awareness to the breath.
Each time the mind wanders,
Say to yourself,
Thinking,
Thinking,
Thinking,
And then once again guiding yourself back to your breath.
Today we'll be practicing gratitude.
Take a few moments now to cultivate a sense of gratitude within you.
Open up your heart and ask yourself,
What am I grateful for?
Perhaps you're grateful for this very moment and the opportunity to connect back in with yourself.
Maybe you're grateful for a warm bed,
A safe place to call home,
Or having access to clean drinking water.
Perhaps it's a simple pleasure,
A person or a place.
Take a few moments to reflect on all the things you're grateful for in your life.
Allow this feeling of gratitude to wash over you.
How does this feel in your body,
In your heart?
Where our mind goes,
Energy flows.
And the more often you practice gratitude,
The more your mind will naturally seek out the positives in life.
On the other hand,
You may know someone who doesn't practice gratitude,
And they seem to always be focusing on the negative.
My invitation to you is to carve out space each day for your own gratitude practice.
You can write down your gratitudes in a journal or share them with a friend,
But make sure you list at least three things each day.
Remember to be consistent in your practice.
You'll truly be amazed at your shift in mindset and how this permeates into your everyday life.
Where our mind goes,
Our energy flows.
Gently start to bring your awareness back into the room,
And when you're ready,
Slowly open your eyes.
I hope you've enjoyed this guided meditation on gratitude.
Until next time,
Aum Shanti.
