That Place Within Loving Self-Compassion
by Leo Maciel
In a way, compassion is an exercise of courage, an opportunity for us to keep the doors of our hearts open to observe our demons coming in and going out as they please, treat them with honorable respect as our guests, and let them show us our humanity. Compassion is a fear killer, a motivation booster, and an empathy shot. This internal encounter is what widely opens the doors for many other interesting inside and outside learning encounters that 'may clear you out for some new delight'. Pema Chödrön says “Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It’s a relationship between equals. Only when we know our darkness well we can be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.” I hope it helps. The self-compassion meditation follows the 8-minute talk.
