There is a curious parallel that I experience between our relationship with technology and our relationship with our consciousness and our mind.
This parallel offers us some reflective opportunities so that we can learn to tend to our mental body through our everyday relationship and interactions with our technology.
We live in a world of energy and frequency,
And more often than not,
We don't even perceive or feel in the moment all of the energies from the outside that affect us,
That may muck up our inner sanctum and distort how we perceive and experience ourselves,
Others,
And the outer world.
My name is Arya,
And I welcome you to this Quantum Temple Audio,
Where we have the opportunity to come into a meditative mind within and then take some actions to clear out what does not serve us in our outer world.
One of the things I love doing,
Especially at the end of the year,
Is to clear out my inbox.
This practice of meditatively clearing out my inbox gives me space to reflect on my year of communication,
Release what I was and what I have been,
And allow me greater space and understanding and a sense of peace with my people,
How I communicate,
Life around me,
And the likes.
The guidance and practices in this audio also help make space for more of what I want and let go of what doesn't serve me or what I was.
Now,
If it seems silly to you to draw a parallel between our minds and our inboxes,
I invite you to embrace a little atypicalness,
A little silliness into your day,
Along with the meditative.
Our minds and our inboxes receive communication from the world around us.
It is also what we use to express what we want to communicate.
My inbox,
Like yours,
Receives a lot of emails every day.
Some are interesting,
Relevant,
And actionable.
Others are spam,
Promotions,
And updates to things that we often don't even have time to care about.
The good stuff is mixed in with the irrelevant.
The important stuff is mixed in with the unnecessary.
Some people have hundreds,
Even thousands,
Of unread messages collected in their inboxes over the years.
Whether we are conscious of it or not,
Every email takes up real estate,
An imprint of energy,
In our inboxes.
Similarly,
Certain thoughts and conversations that we recall,
Sometimes in repeating loops,
Take up real estate in our minds.
When we want to tend to our minds or clear our minds,
We may meditate or pray or engage in mindful activities.
We get to tend to our mind,
And these are essential practices that preserve our sanity.
But once our meditation practice is complete,
What happens then?
How easily are we able to maintain a meditative,
Flowing,
And detached mind during a mundane task like receiving and sending emails?
This audio offers a way to bridge the parallels between our spiritual acts and our mundane ones,
So that we dissolve the illusion that our spiritual life is somehow different or separate from our everyday activities.
The invitation is simple.
We're going to drop into our bodies,
Into our being,
Together.
As we breathe here,
We will soften the buzz and the bustle of the mind.
And from this place,
We will engage with our devices and our screens and open our inbox and allow ourselves to draw our awareness inward and reflect on what is there within us.
Purge what is needed,
Both within and outside,
And give ourselves the gift of choice.
We get to level set and get ourselves back to zero on the email counter,
So that when we start off our new year,
Our new quarter,
Our new month,
We are actually aware that we are starting anew and we can trust that because of the choices we've made,
Whatever flows in to our field,
Into our minds,
Into our inbox,
May actually be here to help and support us and add to our lives the things that we want to bring in.
Let us start by coming into coherence with our heart,
Our mind,
Our body,
And our spirit.
Float your eyes closed.
Drop your shoulders.
Place your hands on your lap,
Palms facing the sky if that is comfortable.
Breathe into your belly.
Shift your awareness to your back body.
The back of the head,
Back of the neck,
Shoulder blades,
Mid-back,
Lower back,
Hips,
Back of the legs if that's available to you.
With your inner eye as you focus on your back body,
You may feel yourself physically move back a few centimeters or inches away from your device as your sit bones reset in reference to your shoulders and neck.
Perhaps you can allow yourself to sit deeply into your sit bones and into your hips,
Feeling more supported.
Breathe here.
Inhale and exhale.
Feel into your arms,
Your forearms,
Your hands and your fingers,
This part of your body that has learned so well in a short time all of the mechanics of interacting with our laptops and phones.
Draw your inner awareness with your eyes closed to the palms of your hands.
What do you feel in them as they are laying idly facing the sky?
Do you notice if they are cool,
Clammy,
Warm,
Or twitchy?
If you can,
Draw some of your breath down your arms,
Into your hands and your fingers as if you are breathing,
Inhaling life force into the tips of your fingers.
You may wiggle and stretch your fingers.
Turn your wrists as you breathe a few more breaths,
Drawing your life breath into your hands and fingers.
On your exhale,
Draw your attention back to your full body and return to your full body breath.
As you breathe here,
Start to very slowly float your eyes open,
Just 10%.
Let a little light from the outer world in,
Just a sliver.
Inhale here,
Into the belly,
Into the hips,
Slowly,
Fully,
Deeply.
And as you exhale,
Float your eyes open a little more,
Maybe closer to 40% so that they are more than half still closed.
Let your gaze be unfocused and blurry.
Inhale here,
Slowly and completely.
And as you exhale,
Keep your eyes,
Eyelids,
And vision soft as you open your eyes a touch more,
A bit over half.
See if you can focus on a plain spot on the wall or the floor in front of you.
And as you breathe,
Notice if you can maintain your breath connection with your body.
Notice if you can still feel your hands,
Your back body,
Your hips,
Your arms.
If your breath still nourishes the entirety of your being.
Now that more of the world is pouring into your eyes,
You may not be able to maintain your complete deep breathing style.
But through the rest of this audio,
Breathe into as much of yourself as you can.
If at any point your mind wanders,
Take a slow belly breath and as you exhale,
Make a humming sound.
When we hum,
The vibration of our sound travels through our nervous system and gives us a little bit more space to relax back into our body and let the mind chatter go.
Inhale and exhale with a natural hum for the length of your exquisite out-breath.
And inhale again when you're ready.
We are going to start to engage with our devices and open our inboxes soon.
In this audio,
There are two practices to tend to our inbox and our mental being.
The guidance in this audio asks you to gaze softly upon your screen and engage with your inner awareness in an atypical way.
I'll share what this atypical way is when we come to it.
But if you simply wish to listen to the audio first,
Then that of course is more than fine.
Draw your inner focus back to your hands.
Notice the feeling in one hand versus the other.
Does one hand feel different than the other in temperature,
In humidity?
It is okay if you cannot tell the difference,
But notice it and allow it to be what it is.
Draw your focus to your non-dominant hand.
Bring some movement into your non-dominant hand and reach for your device.
This is the device you will be using to pull up your inbox,
So choose whatever one is convenient.
Notice if your dominant hand wants to step in and save the day with great speed and skill.
The work of this audio is not speed or efficiency.
It is reflection and allowance.
It is certainly atypical to use our non-dominant hand and fingers.
This is important for it allows a different pattern of movement that our brain-body signaling system is not used to.
When we use our non-dominant hand,
It allows for new synaptic pathways to build,
And this may bring up some emotions like frustration,
Impatience,
Resistance to failing,
Or a dislike of being slow.
So I invite you to inhale and exhale with a slow,
Deep,
Long hum.
As you use your non-dominant hands and fingers to reach for your device,
Let the actions of your hand and your fingers be soft and intentional as you grab your device,
Open it,
Put in the password,
Open the app,
Or navigate to your inbox,
All with your non-dominant hands and fingers.
Take your time.
Breathe in to whatever feelings and oddities that come up.
5.
Feel into your eyes.
Are your eyes strained?
Has your head and neck moved or shifted forward in space?
Can you allow your breath to soften the muscles around your eyes,
The muscles of your face,
Your neck,
Your head a little as you draw your focus to the back of your head,
The back of your neck,
And allow yourself to soften as you reach with your non-dominant hand and interact with your device?
Once you are gazing upon your inbox,
With your soft eyes still breathing into your whole self,
Notice if you are suddenly more alert and attracted to the new or unread messages and alerts on your shiny new screen.
6.
Take a pause.
You may choose to close your eyes,
Take another breath,
And exhale the need to deviate from your chosen task.
Reconnect with your body,
Your back body,
Your heart,
Your rhythm,
And exhale as if to release the fear of missing out or FOMO with a hum.
7.
Return to yourself.
When you are ready,
You can float your eyes open slowly and with your focused breath,
Return to gazing upon your inbox.
To the best of your ability,
Engage with your non-dominant hand.
This will force you to type slowly and awkwardly.
If it feels genuine,
Offer yourself a smile.
Let out a chuckle or a little laugh as you let yourself be awkward for a few more minutes.
In this first practice,
I invite you to navigate to your email's search bar.
Once you are here,
Type in the word UNSUBSCRIBE with the ring finger of your non-dominant hand.
As you type in the letters UNSUBSCRIBE with the ring finger of your non-dominant hand,
Take a breath into your body and press ENTER or RETURN when complete.
With your soft gaze,
View the emails that have returned from this search function.
These emails are all the marketing lists that you are a part of.
Everything you have subscribed to Often,
We subscribe to something because at one point it seemed fun or interesting.
Other times,
We may have purchased something and got added onto the list.
There may also be some lists where we have no idea how we got on.
Now in this review,
We get to scan and see what emails we action and what we ignore.
How many emails in this list are the ones that we've opened and engaged with,
And how many are left unread?
We get to reflect on the action that we have taken or not taken.
We may have had the best intentions,
But in truth we never got around to engaging with these emails.
So we get to see how many months or even years back this practice goes.
You can scroll here through the first few pages to scan and see how many of these emails actually add or contribute to your day.
As you scan them,
Maintain your deep breath,
Your soft eyes,
Your inner awareness.
And notice,
Do some make you feel guilty,
Annoyed,
Frustrated,
Burdened,
Joyful,
Excited?
What is the range of feelings as you very quickly scan through all of the emails that you receive because you are on someone else's marketing list?
In this moment,
You are seeing your true level of engagement with what you have subscribed to.
And now you have a choice.
Your choice is that you can unsubscribe from the lists that you never opened for whatever reason.
In collaboration with your breath and with your heart,
Ask yourself,
Which one of these emails adds beauty,
Joy,
Delight,
And peace to your life?
And which ones don't?
And could you perhaps let go the ones and unsubscribe to the ones that do not add or contribute to your life?
This may be simple or it may be hard.
We often do things in life that we think we are supposed to do,
Even if they don't truly serve us.
Often,
We just do it out of habit.
So this is a place where we can reflect on that.
We can see where and what types of places we give permission to so that they contact us.
We get to evaluate where we are permitting an inflow of energy.
And now we have the freedom to choose if we want to adjust it in some way.
You may find some unread emails that are actually incredible and you missed them.
Let this be okay.
If you can allow yourself to purge even from a few,
You may find that there is more time in your day and more space in your mind and in your being to enjoy the ones that bring you a good message.
This is also a little gift of spaciousness that we can give to our future selves who will hopefully receive less irrelevant emails.
You may pause this audio at any point if you wish to go through more of these pages of email lists you have subscribed to.
Alternatively,
You can choose to click the flag or the star icons along the email lists that you want to stay a part of.
This way,
You can continue with the second practice of this audio and return to this unsubscribing activity at a later time.
Now take another breath,
Inhale in,
And let yourself sigh.
Float your eyes closed again as this first activity,
This first invitation is now complete and fall back into your body.
If you are holding your device,
Let it go for a few moments or shift your laptop away from you.
Wiggle your fingers of your dominant and non-dominant hand in as many directions as possible.
Wiggle your wrists.
Breathe deeply into the back of your shoulder blades.
Stretch your arms out in front of you.
Draw them up overhead.
Inhale deeply.
Exhale completely with a sigh.
Release whatever you have released.
With an inhale,
Breathe in newness and spaciousness.
Keep your eyes closed and continue with your deep full breaths as I introduce this second practice or invitation.
In this second practice,
I will invite you to gaze through some pages of emails in your inbox.
Now you may have hundreds of thousands of unread emails through the pages of your inbox,
So with your eyes closed,
I invite you to choose a number between 1 and 8.
Choose that number in your inner mind and let that be a good boundary.
The number that you chose is the number of pages of emails that you will scan through as we move through this section of this audio.
The invite is quite simple.
It is an easy scan of the pages of your email with your breath and with your soft inner awareness.
You are not going to open any emails.
You are simply scanning the recipient,
The title,
Maybe the date,
Scanning very quickly through the pages of your email.
On the inside,
Your awareness will be towards how you feel and what your impulses are,
Mental or emotional.
You may choose to start this activity on the most recent page of your inbox.
You may choose to navigate to the last page of your inbox and work backwards.
You may also choose the pages of your scent folder.
Whichever one interests you for this activity,
Choose it.
When you are ready,
Open your eyes slowly and softly with more of your awareness active within you than on what you are viewing in the outer world.
With your non-dominant hand,
Once again,
Reach for your device and navigate into your inbox onto the chosen folder or pages,
Your scent folder,
The first page of your inbox,
Or the last with your non-dominant hand.
Stay with your breath as you scan the first page of emails.
Stay with your breath.
With soft eyes and a strong internal awareness,
Scan with your eyes and scroll lightly on the emails that make up the first page that you are looking at.
Notice within you where you may contract.
Forget your breath.
Get a little distracted.
Notice if your shoulders and upper back curve forward.
Notice where your neck and head are in space.
Breathe some space between your body and your device.
Breathe into your back body.
There will be a time to act on what you need to,
But right now,
This is simply a reflective activity that informs you how you communicate and receive the world around you,
How you have been communicating this past year.
You may notice emails from family and friends mixed in with emails from your bank,
Perhaps articles shared.
You may have read some,
You may not have.
You may have intended to respond,
You may not have.
You may remember that you responded in a way you weren't happy with.
You may feel a little guilt for the things that you ignored or simply forgot about.
Or you may be proud of yourself because you've just realized how far you've come.
In this practice,
It is helpful to go back at least one year because we often forget the place we were operating from twelve months ago.
The dreams we had,
The plans we were making,
The thoughts and emotions that were guiding us,
The things that didn't work out,
The surprising things that did work out.
As we scan our emails with a calm,
Clear observer mind,
We get special insight into how we've been communicating.
As you view these emails page after page with your awareness anchored within you,
How do you feel about yourself,
About your life,
About everything and everyone in it?
Breathe here,
Inhale,
And hum or sigh your exhale out.
I will share with you that I do this practice every quarter.
That's four times a year.
Over the years,
It has become an indispensable,
Reflective opportunity for me to evolve my communication.
To choose what comes into my inbox and therefore what comes into my mental and energetic field.
To allow myself the power of choice to draw my power and focus back in the places where I have unknowingly given it away.
I used to have heightened reactions to emails,
Especially ones from a tax agency or a bank.
But now,
I waste less time on these emotional-mental loops,
And I am more open and available to the things that do come in,
And I can action them without much spiraling thought or feeling.
These are the two practices.
The first one is the unsubscribing,
And the second one is a scanning of our emails for the past year.
These two practices can absolutely be done from our everyday mind,
Without having to connect into our body,
Breathing deeply,
Dropping into our being,
Without having to bother using our non-dominant hand.
The benefit of doing so is simply that we get to slow down and allow ourselves to rewire some of the tech habits and hygiene that we have developed over time.
Doing these practices in this meditative,
Breathful way allows us to feel our feelings and unlearn the automation that we are used to when we relate to and interact with technology,
Our apps,
Our emails,
Our messages.
It helps us to unlearn and repattern when we respond in mechanical ways.
This is the offering.
The work is to use our technology platforms as a way to reflect on who we are and how we interact with the world around us,
How we receive,
How we perceive,
What we react to,
What has power over us,
What we respond to,
And what we send out.
To learn that even our emails,
Our energy,
Coming into our field as data and information,
Increasing year by year,
Day by day,
In volume and velocity,
We get to anchor within and choose how to receive,
What to receive.
Eventually,
We can learn to integrate our whole being,
Our thoughts,
Our emotions,
And our energy so that we can transmute what comes in and action it so that these energies don't become stagnant,
Burdensome,
Or stuck in our mental field.
And so,
My friends,
This audio is now coming to completion.
I hope it allows you to revel in the jewels of your self-reflection.
I hope it allows you to relate differently to your mental body,
To the energies that come in and the energies that you put out into the world,
Using your technology as a tool of reflection.
May you know yourself as incredible.
And so it is.
This audio is now complete.
