Hi,
Welcome to a short meditation.
Our lives are busier than ever and we can often feel like we are being pulled in many different places both energetically and physically.
We get so caught up in the doing that we forget this ancient art of just being.
Meditation is a wonderful tool to this end and hopefully by the end of the short meditation we can come out of this go-go state of doing and come more into a place of being soft and relaxed.
So we will ground down into our bodies,
Take a few deep breaths together and then contemplate a few open-ended questions to discover how you're really doing today.
If the mind wanders,
Which is completely normal,
Simply call your attention back gently to your breath,
Back to my voice and back to these contemplation questions.
So if you feel ready,
Gently close the eyes or pick a point on the floor in front of you that's not moving and soften your gaze and also soften into your posture.
Let the tension in your body melt away as the shoulders move further and further away from the ears.
Good.
And take a big inhalation through the nose and a long big exhalation as you sigh out any air remaining in the lungs.
And once more,
Inhale through the nose,
Fill up.
Good.
And exhale and relax into your seat.
Wonderful.
Now just take a moment here to notice where your mind is at.
What distractions are coming into play at this particular moment?
Are you still thinking about what you were doing before this?
What you have to do after?
Can you let these things go now?
Slow down and settle into the sacred time that you've gifted to yourself for reflection and stillness.
The only task to do here is to be here now.
Come back to the breath and open the mind.
And begin to ask yourself,
How am I really right now?
How am I really right now?
You may like to start with the physical body and notice where you feel any tension and if you can release this.
Maybe moving to the sphere of the mind,
Is your mind feeling tense or busy?
Just notice how are you really right now?
Now moving,
How have you been this week?
Think over the past few days and think about any patterns that you've noticed.
How was my health,
My interactions with others,
My mood?
How have you been this week?
Just notice what comes up.
Notice what stories or memories your mind gets pulled to and then come back.
Just bringing into your field of awareness how you've been this past week.
And finally,
Asking ourselves the question,
Who do you want to be going forward?
Who do you want to be going forward?
How can you take this stillness,
This awareness into your day,
Into your week?
Can you stay aware and present as you let go of tension in the body,
Let go of tension in the mind,
Let go of tension in your life?
Who do you want to be going forward?
Letting the answers bubble up from within you.
Letting your inner voice speak to you,
Speak through you.
How can you take these reflections to the rest of your day?
And take one final long deep breath here,
Inhalation through the nose,
Fill up and release,
Allowing the exhalation to come out in a sigh,
Maybe you make an audible sound.
And releasing this meditation now,
Coming into a final moment of stillness as your breath deepens and you soften.
And when you're ready,
You can gently bring the hands to heart center in a moment of gratitude for gifting yourself the space of self awareness,
This chance to know yourself.
And gently and only when you're ready,
You can blink your eyes open.
