Welcome everyone to this meditation,
The purpose of which is to connect with your inner light,
To find peace and joy within yourself,
And then to begin sharing this light with others.
When you're ready,
Find your space and come into a comfortable position.
Perhaps you'd like to prop the sit bones and the knees in a seated meditation position.
Any position of the legs that allows comfort and ease,
The spine to be tall and free and to facilitate this balance of being both relaxed yet alert.
Or perhaps you'd like to take this meditation laying down,
And that's fine too,
Just getting comfortable.
And if you're ready,
You can close your eyes now.
And if you're not quite ready to close the eyes,
Pick a spot on the floor in front of you and allow your gaze to soften around this unmoving point.
Notice now with your eyes closed or softened,
With your senses,
Notice the room and the space in which you find yourself.
Notice the floor below you.
Notice the walls of the open air surrounding you if you're outside.
Notice the ceiling or sky above you.
How is it that you're able to sense the space?
And now bringing your awareness to the air in the room.
Is it hot?
Is it cold?
Perhaps it has a smell.
Notice the quality of the air and how it makes you feel.
And now that you've noticed your external environment,
We can come to examine our internal environment,
Relaxing the hips and pelvic floor,
Allowing your stomach to relax and the shoulders to melt down the back on your exhalations.
And notice now if you're holding any tension in the jaw or the face.
And allow yourself to soften and commit to leaving yourself in peace simply for these next few minutes that you're gifting to yourself for stillness and rejuvenation and connection.
And in this way,
Meditation is training our mind to focus on a single point,
To focus on the here and now,
The present moment.
So we remember that neither yesterday or tomorrow exist.
So call yourself back gently from all time and space that's not here and now.
Take a few big deep inhalations now.
Inhale through the nose,
Fill up.
Good.
And sigh it all out,
Really letting all of the air out here.
Two more just like this,
Your own cadence,
Your own rhythm.
Inhaling through the nose,
An exhalation through the nose,
Or you can open the mouth and let the exhalation leave the body in a nice,
Relaxed sigh.
Now I invite you to come on a journey with me through the power of imaginative visualization.
And this journey,
Of course,
Leads right back to you.
So allow the breath to return to normal like in a soft,
Deep sleep,
Slow and relaxed.
In your mind's eye,
Bring yourself to a cliffside overlooking the ocean.
Really bring yourself into this space.
It's early in the morning before the sun has even come up.
Just the faintest glow is illuminating the night sky,
Soon to be day sky.
And you can tangibly feel in your body the stillness that occurs before the world wakes up,
Before life begins to buzz again.
You can feel that serenity like the calm ocean in front of you.
You can sense in your animal senses that so much of the life surrounding you is still in the sweet space of dream consciousness.
Now feel the solid hardness of the earth supporting you.
Perhaps feeling the coolness of the wind on your skin as it blows past you from the ocean ahead.
And in front of you now,
The sun is beginning to come up.
The most beautiful sunrise you've ever seen.
Even now the slow illumination of brilliant light as the colors of awakening begin to form.
Soft beautiful colors of oranges,
Yellows,
Really any color that you can imagine.
See these colors rising and illuminating everything that they touch.
So much so that things begin to appear as if they're sparkling,
Glowing,
As they are illuminated by the colors and light of this beautiful sunrise that you are now witnessing in front of you.
And now feel this glowing light on your skin.
Yes,
Feel it on your skin.
Feel each of your cells tingle as they are kissed by the light of the sunrise.
Feel the warmth spread from your cheeks,
Your face,
Now enveloping your whole body as if in a blanket.
And feel this light seep into your body,
Filling you up now from the inside out.
Feel this illuminating,
Glowing,
Warming light filling you up.
Now come to know this light as your own light now.
That this outer sunrise that you're observing is really the sunrise of your own light within.
Within this internal sun glowing a brilliant white light emanating from your heart space.
Growing brighter and brighter,
Energizing your very being,
Your soul that resides inside.
Shining now as brilliantly within as the sun is before you.
And you come to know now that this brilliant sun,
This brilliant sunrise of light is always shining within.
All that must be done to realize this is turning your awareness to it.
All it takes is a few moments of stillness to observe this internal sunrise to know yourself as this being of light.
That you're filled with this light,
This light that goes by many names,
Inexplicable joy,
Bliss,
Love,
Light,
Energy.
It goes by many names and you are absolutely filled to the brim with it.
You are full,
You are ready to share this light with the world.
So where will you send this light?
Who will receive it?
Seeing this light within you like a sunrise that has no bounds.
The sun shines its rays on everyone and everything just the same.
The light of the sun does not shine on some plants more than others.
It shares its rays without discrimination,
Without thought,
Without shyness,
Without reservation.
And so do you.
Take a big full deep inhalation here and sigh it out.
Two more just like this,
Inhaling through the nose and sigh it all out.
Slowly coming back into the body,
Back into your physical form,
Allowing the eyes to remain closed in these last few moments of sweet stillness of meditation.
Maintaining this warm glowing feeling of your own inner source,
Your own inner sun.
Seeing the eyes closed,
Perhaps wiggling each finger one by one.
Then wiggling each toe one by one.
Coming into a space of gratitude now,
Perhaps you'd like to place one or both hands over the heart.
Seeing yourself for showing up,
For accessing,
For finding your inner light and sharing it with the world around you.
And taking a moment now to thank the darkness.
To thank the night before the day,
For without darkness we would not know or understand the beauty and freedom of light.
One final inhalation through the nose and sigh it all out.
Having your eyes open now and having a beautiful rest of your day.
