Welcome to the short good morning meditation.
If you're still in bed allowing yourself to settle in or if you'd like to sit up and find a comfortable posture for meditation,
Feel free to do so now.
And in this meditation,
Rather than manipulating the breath or changing it in any way,
We're simply going to connect to our breath as it is right now today.
If it feels safe for you,
You can close the eyes or simply pick a spot that's not moving perhaps on the ceiling or on the floor in front of you and allow your gaze to soften.
As when we take away the faculty of sight,
Our attention spirals inward.
Allow your attention to come now to the breath.
Just noticing how it is.
Is it long and slow and relaxed?
Perhaps it's short and shallow.
Without changing or judging,
Just notice how your breath is.
Simply the act of bringing awareness to something allows it to calm.
And giving us this chance to connect with the breath allows our nervous system to regulate as you prepare for the day ahead.
So now tuning in to all of the parts of your body that are moving to allow the breath to happen.
The belly moving ever so slightly.
The ribs expanding out in all directions as the lungs inflate and deflate.
Just allowing your awareness to come to ever more subtle levels of the breath.
Can you get quiet enough to feel the air as it passes in and out of your nostrils?
Take a few minutes of intentional silence,
A few moments to connect with your breath.
Just this simple act in the morning can change the entire course of your day.
Allowing you to move into the activities of life from your center.
Taking a few more final deep inhales,
Preparing to leave this meditation,
But to bring this feeling of connection and stillness with you into your day.
Take one final deep inhale through the nose and exhale,
Sigh it all out,
Letting the shoulders melt down the back.
I wish you a day full of peace and harmony.
