Welcome to when you're tired of being strong.
Maybe you've been the one that is holding everything together.
The one who keeps going.
The one who reassures everyone else.
One who says,
I'm fine,
Even when there's a part of you that is anything but fine.
So,
Maybe you are looking after someone you love or living with illness,
Waiting for answers Or maybe there's just one particular thing.
Simply,
It's been too much for too long.
If any of that feels familiar I want you to know something before we do anything else.
You don't have to be strong here.
And for these next few minutes,
You can simply be here exactly as you are.
So find your comfy space,
Warm and cozy.
Settle in,
Just feel your body soften.
Allow yourself to lean back.
And notice that something is already supporting you.
Feel the chair or your bed,
The floor.
You don't have to hold all of your own weight right now.
So just let yourself notice that.
And just notice the breath now that you already have.
Softly notice the next inhale that arrives.
And the next exhale that please.
And that is enough.
Place a hand somewhere that feels comforting for you.
Maybe over your heart or your belly.
Or just simply let one hand rest inside the other.
There's something very human about touch.
We instinctively reach for someone when they are hurting.
A hand on an arm.
A hand held quietly.
Anna embraces.
Or a hook.
So,
For this moment,
Allow your hand to offer some of that kindness right back to you.
No words are needed here.
Just feel that warmth.
That contact?
And just this small message,
I'm here.
Maybe nobody has really asked you lately how you really are.
Or perhaps they have asked and you haven't quite known what to say.
Because sometimes there isn't an easy answer.
Sometimes we are grateful.
But also fearful.
Stronged and exhausted.
Helpful but uncertain.
Coping and not coping.
All at the same time.
Human beings can sometimes be like that.
But you don't have to choose one feeling.
You don't have to tidy yourself up emotionally before you are needing off rest.
Whatever is here is here.
Take a moment now to notice three places where your body is being supported.
Your back against the chair or your feet touching the ground.
Your head against a pillow.
All your hands are resting in your lap.
Just three points of contact,
Nothing more.
Feel the first.
The second.
And the third.
Let those three places quietly remind your nervous system,
Something is holding me.
You are feeling completely safe.
You are feeling completely calm.
And we simply notice that in this particular moment.
You simply notice that in this particular moment there is somewhere for your body to rest.
To let go.
And so now just allow your exhale to become a little longer.
Simply breathe in.
Just let your breath leave slowly,
Maybe through gently parted lips.
Breathe in naturally.
Just let your out breath softer.
A gentle breath in.
And a slightly easier breath out.
Once more,
Inhale.
As you exhale just release any feelings of tiredness,
Tension or stress.
Any thoughts,
Worries or concerns?
Just place them all on a cloud.
And watch them drift away.
And there is something else I'd like you to just let it drift away.
Maybe it's the expectation that you should be handling this better.
And if that thought has been following you.
I should be stronger.
Why shouldn't feel this way?
Just loosen your grip on it.
Tiredness does not need to be justified,
And needing comfort is an innate need.
Give yourself permission to have days when you don't have so much to give.
Allow yourself to say even quietly to yourself.
This is a difficult phase.
Sometimes acknowledging that is far more compassionate than trying to turn everything away.
So perhaps just say it now.
This is a difficult phase.
And then I am here.
Take a deep breath in.
And a slow breath out.
Coming into this moment right now.
Just notice your hand again.
Feel its warmth.
Maybe your hand has travelled with you through thousands of ordinary days.
Opening doors,
Preparing meals,
Holding another hand,
Touching flowers,
Stroking an animal,
Turning pages.
And doing all of these small things really make up our life.
And it is resting here with you.
There is something quietly beautiful about that.
You have been living your way through this.
Simply one day after another.
And that is courage.
Now just imagine something very simple.
Someone very kind is sitting beside you.
They don't need to give you advice or tell you to be positive.
They simply stay quietly.
And somehow in their presence you realize that you don't have to explain yourself either.
This person isn't waiting for you to reassure them or asking you to be brave.
It is someone who simply understands how much you have been caring.
And now as a whisper they say.
You can rest now.
Let those words reach wherever they need to reach.
You can rest now.
Maybe your shoulders soften,
Maybe something emotional rises.
Just stay.
Stay for a few moments,
Knowing that you can just rest right now.
Letting everything go.
Flowing out.
Just stay.
Wonderful.
Bring your attention back to your breath.
The natural flow.
The rhythm.
In.
And out.
Feel the support beneath you.
The warmth of your hands.
Let yourself be accompanied for another few breaths.
In your own natural rhythm.
If there has been one thing that you're still carrying today.
Just let it go for now.
Just loosen your hands around it.
And for this moment,
Let your hands be empty.
Let your shoulders be empty.
And let this moment ask nothing from you.
Let's just look at the gentleness of strength.
The strength to stop.
The strength to receive help.
The strength to rest.
And this gentle strength can really look like this,
That you are here,
That you are breathing and that you are resting in gentle kindness.
Allow yourself this kindness.
Maybe another five minutes of rest.
Asking someone for help.
Walking outside in nature.
Laughing at something ridiculous.
Just something that is right for you.
A kindness for yourself.
Take a gentle breath in.
And a longer,
Slower exhale.
Let it bleed slowly.
Just notice how you feel now,
How your body feels.
Or rested.
Over that.
Maybe you are just more aware of how you deserve kindness for you.
So just feel the supporting places for your body once again.
Become aware of your surroundings,
The sounds nearby.
The air against your skin.
And just stay with me for another moment.
Go gently.
Allow yourself to rest.
And remember that you don't have to be strong every moment.
And you can return here anytime.
So let yourself be supported.
Let yourself feel that kindness for you.
Self-care,
Self-love.
Self-gentleness.
Take one breath in.
And breathe out.
And just meet life from there,
From your breath.
Because for now this breath is enough.
And so are you.
You are so wonderfully you.
Namaste,
My friend.
