Welcome to the feather on the wind.
A gentle story of trust and letting go.
Was once a small white feather resting on the branch of an old tree.
It had been there for some time.
Through quiet mornings,
Through rain,
Through afternoons when the sunlight warmed the bark beneath it.
And although the feather could see the wide world beyond the branches,
It had grown comfortable there.
The branch was familiar.
It knew the shape of it,
The way it moved in the breeze,
The particular patch of sky visible between the leaves.
And maybe we are a little like that sometimes.
We become used to where we are.
Even when part of us wonders what might lie beyond it.
Then one morning,
A wind began to rise.
At first,
It was barely noticeable.
A whisper through the leaves,
A gentle stirring.
But slowly the branch began to sway.
And the little feather it felt itself lifting at the edges.
It tried to hold on.
Just a little longer.
Because the sky suddenly seemed very large and the ground seemed so far away.
But the wind had other ideas.
With one soft gust,
The feather was lifted from the branch,
And for a moment,
There was nothing beneath it.
No familiar place to rest.
No certainty about where it was going.
There was only the air.
Only movement,
And only this strange experience of being carried somewhere it could not yet see.
With this beautiful feather,
It tumbled at first up,
Down,
Sideways.
Caught in the currents,
It could neither understand nor control.
And then something changed.
It stopped fighting the wind.
And it simply allowed itself to be carried.
And suddenly,
What had felt frightening began to feel very different.
The feather rose,
Higher than the tree that had once been its whole world.
It floated across a field where the grasses moved like waves.
It passed above a gentle stream,
Catching tiny flashes of sunlight dancing on the water.
It drifted past wildflowers and over an old stone.
That had been warmed by the morning sun.
The feather began to understand something.
Being carried did not mean being lost.
Not knowing where it was going did not mean it was going the wrong way.
So this feather travelled on.
Sometimes the wind was strong.
Sometimes it became so gentle that the feather almost seemed to hang motionless in the air.
And maybe that is how life moves too.
There are seasons when everything changes at once.
And those other seasons when nothing seems to move at all.
There aren't those moments when we know exactly where we are going.
Those moments when the path we thought we were following simply disappears.
And maybe you know something about that.
Maybe there has been a time in your own life when you wished you could see a little further ahead.
When you wanted to know how something would turn out.
When you longed for a sign that you were going in the right direction.
So this feather could not see the end of its journey.
It could only meet the air that held it now.
This breeze.
This moment.
This patch of sky.
And somehow,
That was enough.
So eventually the wind softened.
The feather began to descend.
Slowly,
Quietly,
Until it came to rest beside a narrow woodland path.
For a while,
It just simply lay there.
Then footsteps approached.
A woman was walking slowly beneath the trees.
Her mind was full.
There were decisions she hadn't made,
Questions she couldn't answer.
And things she wished she could change.
She was looking down as she walked.
When something white caught her eye.
And it was the feather.
It was small but perfect.
And it was lying across her path.
So she bent down and picked up this feather.
And for reasons she couldn't quite explain,
She smiled.
She held it gently between her fingers,
And for the first time that morning,
She noticed the breeze against her face,
The trees moving above her,
And the light falling through the leaves.
She noticed her own breath.
And a soft breath out.
And something inside her softens.
She didn't suddenly have all the answers.
Nothing outside her had changed,
But for one quiet moment,
She no longer needed to know everything.
So,
She simply stood beneath the trees holding the little feather and just allowed herself to be where she was.
And that is one of life's quieter invitations.
Not to give up.
Not to stop choosing or dreaming or moving forward to what matters.
But it is to loosen our grip on needing to know exactly how everything will unfold.
And that is to trust yourself enough.
To meet the next moment when it arrives.
And the next.
And the neck.
And the next.
So if life feels a little uncertain for you right now.
Just imagine that little feather.
And remember that you don't need to see the whole journey.
You don't need to have every answer today.
But you can just feel the breath moving through you.
Feel the ground beneath you.
And remember.
That you are not lost.
You are simply somewhere between where you have been and where you are going.
So,
For now,
Just let the wind carry you just a little further on your beautiful journey.
Namaste,
My friend.
