Life can be hard.
Being human is hard.
Some decisions feel enormous,
Changing jobs,
Moving homes,
Ending or beginning relationships.
Others seem small,
Yet somehow carry their own weight,
Like deciding what's for dinner for the thousandth time.
So much of life asks us to choose,
To decide,
To move forward.
I often return to a quote from Glennon Doyle,
We can do hard things.
Perhaps you can let those words land softly within you.
We can do hard things.
When life feels overwhelming,
Disappointing,
Uncertain,
Or simply heavy,
We often find ourselves circling the same thoughts.
We replay conversations,
Weigh options,
Imagine outcomes,
And search for certainty.
The mind swirls.
We wait.
We worry.
We hesitate.
And in all that thinking,
We can sometimes lose touch with ourselves,
With the quiet wisdom beneath the noise.
Today's practice is an invitation to reconnect with that deeper part of you.
Not through more thinking,
But through slowing down,
Through breathing,
And through returning to your body.
And there will be some Reiki healing of around two minutes once we've settled in.
And allow that to just flow through you.
We're going to begin with a gentle forward fold,
A sign of surrender and of letting go.
Before settling into your seated position,
Find any version of a forward bend that feels comfortable and supportive for you.
Perhaps you let your head gently hang forward.
Perhaps you roll your spine forward.
Maybe you place your hands on your feet,
Your knees,
Or your lap.
I like to rest my hands on my knees and gently through exhales allow my body to soften forward.
There's no need to push.
No need to strive.
Simply allow gravity to support you.
As you settle into your forward bend,
Bring your awareness to your breath.
Breathing in.
And breathing out.
Notice if your jaw is holding tension.
Now raise your tongue.
Can they soften just a little?
Continue breathing gently and with your next exhale imagine releasing something you've been carrying.
And again,
One more slow breath out.
And then the next two exhales,
Do it as though you're gently blowing away stress,
Pressure,
Or mental clutter through your mouth.
Maybe allowing your hands to shake if that feel good or take any wiggle or movement your body naturally asks for.
You know,
Forward Fold is a practice of surrender and of letting go.
And then we're going to very slowly,
Very gently take your time to unwind your spine to upright.
There's nowhere to rush to.
Arriving upright and pause.
Just notice how it feels to simply sit.
Settling into a comfortable seated position now on the floor,
A cushion,
A chair.
And allow your spine to lengthen naturally.
You soften your knees,
Relax your jaw.
And ever so slowly we're just going to turn our head towards the right.
Pause and see if you can grow a little taller.
And slowly turn your head back towards the left.
Imagine your crown of your head reaching upwards.
Move once more from side to side at your own pace,
Following the rhythm of your breath.
And then return to your center.
Pause.
Placing one hand on your belly and one hand on your heart,
Feel the warmth of your touch.
Notice your breath moving beneath your hands.
The gentle rise as you breathe in and the soft release as you breathe out.
Closing your eyes if that feels comfortable.
Come still.
Aware of your breath.
Aware of your body.
With the simple fact that for the next few moments,
Nothing is needed from you.
Nothing to solve,
Nothing to figure out,
Nothing to decide.
Taking a soft sigh if that feels good and simply rest.
Now if you're open to receiving Reiki energy silently or loud.
Offer yourself permission by saying yes.
Yes to receiving.
Yes to softening.
Yes to reconnecting with your own inner wisdom.
As Reiki flows to your heart center,
Allow yourself to rest in stillness.
There's nothing you need to do,
Nothing you need to make happen.
Simply receive.
As we begin to return,
Bring awareness back to your body.
Back to the room around you.
Gently wiggle your fingers,
Move your toes.
Notice the surface beneath you.
Take a deeper breath in.
And a slow breath out.
Remember that the answers you seek do not always arrive through effort.
Sometimes they emerge through stillness,
Through presence,
Through staying connected to yourself.
You can do hard things.
And you do not have to do them disconnected from your own heart.
When you're ready,
Slowly open your eyes.
Welcome back.
My name is Anya and thank you for spending your time with me.
