Perhaps,
Taking one slow breath,
Welcome.
I'm really glad you're here.
Take a moment to arrive.
However,
The body is feeling today,
You're welcome here.
You might meet this moment with a little kindness,
Nothing forced,
Just the same kind of patience you might offer a dear friend.
There's nothing you need to figure out,
Just a little time to listen.
In this practice,
We're becoming curious about the quiet ways the body already knows how to move towards balance.
Your nervous system is always adapting,
Breathing,
Responding,
Shifting toward what helps you feel a little more supported.
Much of this happens without effort,
The body regulating itself in ways the mind doesn't always notice.
The mind often believes it has to solve everything,
But the body often knows the way in a much quieter language,
A language of sensation,
Of subtle shifts,
Of signals that are sometimes very small.
So,
For these few minutes,
We're slowing down,
Just enough to listen,
Not with the mind alone,
But with the whole body,
Perhaps noticing the body breathing,
Not controlling the breath,
Just sensing the body breathing.
The body already knows how to breathe,
How to adjust,
How to respond to this moment.
You might begin to notice how the body feels right now.
Perhaps there are places that feel settled,
Or places that feel a little tight,
Or areas that simply feel neutral.
All of it belongs here.
And whatever you notice,
You might let it be met with a little kindness,
Perhaps noticing what kindness feels like in the body.
You might imagine that kindness like sunlight touching the surface of water,
Nothing pushing,
Nothing trying to change the water,
Just a gentle warmth resting there.
And the body can receive that in its own way,
Or simply remain exactly as it is,
Pressure,
A sense of movement,
Or stillness.
The body communicates through sensations like these.
You might imagine simply sitting beside the body the way you might sit beside a dear friend,
With patience,
With gentleness,
Without rushing.
Sometimes the body can orient the way a compass does,
Not by forcing anything,
The needle does not rush,
It simply settles in the direction that helps us find our way.
Perhaps a small shift towards what feels a little more steady,
A little more safe.
In much the same way,
The body is always sensing what supports it,
What helps the nervous system soften even a little.
Sometimes the signal is very small,
Perhaps a breath deepening,
A jaw softening,
A subtle sense of easing.
Sometimes the body whispers quietly,
And listening is enough.
And sometimes nothing changes at all,
And that's okay too.
That too is part of the body's wisdom.
You might gently notice where there's a place in the body that feels even slightly more comfortable or supported.
It could be very small,
Perhaps the rhythm of breathing,
The warmth of the hands,
The support of the chair,
Or the ground beneath you.
Sometimes the nervous system can begin to settle when attention rests with something steady and supportive,
Not forcing calm,
Just allowing the body to orient towards what is already here.
For a few moments now,
Resting here with the body,
Breathing,
Sensing,
Listening,
The body doesn't need to be any different to communicate with you.
Even the faintest signal can matter.
A place softening,
A muscle remembering how to rest.
The nervous system is always adapting,
Always adjusting,
Finding its way towards balance in its own time.
You don't have to force this process.
Much of the body's wisdom emerges when we simply listen.
And now,
Taking a moment to notice what this practice was like for you.
Perhaps something shifted,
Or perhaps very little changed,
Or perhaps it was simply a quiet pause in the day.
Whatever your experience was,
There is no right way for this to unfold.
Even showing up and listening for a few minutes can matter.
You might let yourself meet this moment with the same kindness you've been offering throughout the practice.
Nothing to judge,
Nothing to evaluate,
Just acknowledging where you are now.
You met yourself,
And that matters.
And when it feels natural,
You might begin to notice the room around you again,
The sounds nearby,
The space around you,
The body here,
Breathing,
Supported.
Take a moment to acknowledge yourself for pausing,
For listening,
For offering your body your attention and kindness.
That matters.
And when you feel ready,
You might gently move the fingers or the toes,
Perhaps stretching in any way that feels comfortable.
Letting the eyes open slowly,
If they were closed,
Returning to your day at your own pace.
You're allowed to move gently through the world and to return to this kind of listening whenever you need.
Thank you for practicing.
Your body is always speaking,
And slowly its language can become easier to hear.
Meeting yourself with even a little kindness can matter more than you know.
It's a gift to share this time with you.
Nothing to hold,
Nothing to rush.
Thank you for practicing.
