Hello again and welcome.
This meditation is called Do you have a future?
This meditation is an invitation to explore something we rarely question.
The belief,
The fixation that there is always something more to come.
That somewhere in the future something or someone will bring us all that we dream of.
All that we imagine.
And so without realizing it,
We live with the feeling that what we are seeking is still ahead.
That life as it is now is somehow incomplete.
The search for one's self-awakening can carry this same momentum until one day we imagine we will have reached what we have been searching for.
What is it,
Though,
That we truly believe will be more than what is present now?
The mind's natural momentum is towards an imagined other.
We strive,
We anticipate,
We hope,
We dream,
And we seek.
But this movement is sustained by the conditioned belief.
That we are somehow a separate individual at a distance,
A finite self.
Someone who imagines that what they are seeking lies ahead,
Somewhere,
Somewhere else.
That the next moment,
The next destination or the next relationship will bring what seems to be missing now.
Have you paused long enough to consider?
Now is the future moment as now is always present.
Whatever we imagine through thought will happen later.
And when that moment arrives,
It is simply now.
The future never arrives as the future.
It arrives as this present moment in thought.
Now itself has no imagining of the future,
No momentum.
It is not reaching towards what comes next.
It is the direct recognition that what is happening now is all that is timelessly present.
We come to recognize that what we are not the mind's temporary thoughts nor its projections through which future imaginings arise.
The condition pulled towards the future belongs to the belief in the separate identity of a me.
As someone searching for an imagined satisfaction.
But awareness itself is not drawn towards an imagined future.
It is not caught up in the promise or the hope of finding something that is missing or lacking.
Life itself is not moving towards an imagined destination.
It is the aliveness of the unfoldment of now.
And in recognizing the condition pull towards what has yet to come.
The illusion can be seen now without needing to follow it.
There is no need to stop the mind from imagining a future.
There is no need to resist the movement of thought.
The recognition is simply that what we timelessly are is still.
Not travelling towards a moment in which we will finally become complete.
Nothing needs to be added to one's timeless and inseparable presence.
Nothing needs to be achieved for awareness to be fully present.
And what one timelessly is,
Is not a personal realization to claim,
To hold or possess.
It is simply Recognised.
Not as something new that has been discovered,
But as the full blossoming of what has never been absent.
The future may well continue to be imagined.
Thought will continue to come and go,
Life will continue to unfold in ways that cannot be known or planned in advance.
The imagined future belongs to the movement of thought.
Sustained by a long-held belief that something is lacking,
Is missing.
But the wholeness of life is never somewhere else,
Never waiting to become complete or whole.
It is this unfolding,
This immediacy,
This unknowable openness of now.
Nothing to attain,
Nothing to claim,
Nothing to become.
No more questions.
The fullness of life is unfolding,
Inseparably present as this now.
