Hello and welcome.
This meditation is called Sleep Effortlessly.
Simply an invitation to stop,
To rest,
To let go,
To be still.
There is nothing to do now,
Nowhere to go,
Nothing to plan or organize.
Any sense of doing has been left behind now that you are comfortable and relaxed.
Simply allow the body and mind to be right where it is,
Resting quietly as the body and the mind begin to let go,
As your energies begin to wane,
Feeling the weight of the body as it meets where you are lying or where you are sitting,
Allowing yourself to be totally held and supported,
Maybe placing your hands on your lap or by your side and relax your back and begin to gently notice the natural rhythm of your breathing,
Just as it is flowing quietly in and out of the body.
And in the journey of the breath,
The sense of a deepening relaxation,
Of a release.
And here you are giving yourself permission to slow down,
To let go of all that is outside of yourself in this moment of deep personal awareness.
And as you rest here,
Sensations coming and going,
Thoughts may appear,
Then pass.
Nothing needs to be followed,
Nothing needs to be held on to.
In this space all is open and free to come and to go.
Everything to be just as it is.
Even the sense of trying to relax,
Trying to unwind,
Just leave that be,
Leave it alone.
There is no need to make sleep happen.
Sleep comes on its own,
In its own time.
You are simply here,
Resting,
Still and open.
And perhaps now there can be a quiet recognition that nothing in this relaxed space of stillness has an owner,
Has an identity.
Sensations coming and going,
The breath rising and falling,
Sounds appearing and fading,
All randomly appearing on their own,
In their separate journeys.
There is no effort required here,
Nothing to hold on to,
Nothing to organize.
Just let go.
You don't need to remain aware,
You don't need to consciously listen.
Even these words begin to fade into the silence,
Like distant echoes.
And if sleep begins to arrive,
You give yourself permission to quietly fall asleep,
Feeling a lightness carried by the breath as it passes through the body,
Into the shoulders and neck,
To the hands and feet.
Let all relax a little deeper,
Slowly relaxing and letting go of all tightness,
All uncertainty,
All resistance.
You are safe and supported here.
There is no need to resist anything,
For all is quietly in support of you quietly,
Remaining still and open.
In this moment,
There is nothing to notice,
As alertness fades,
As the eyes are closed.
Just allowing everything to soften,
To be quieter,
More spaces.
All is light and free.
Even the sense of the body is barely noticeable now,
As if everything is gently dissolving.
Loosening,
Opening,
Floating,
Nothing to reach for,
Nothing to hold on to,
Nothing to return to.
Just this quiet letting go,
Deep resting in the increasing stillness of the body.
And these words drift further and further away,
As the mind dissolves,
Resting deeper and deeper.
Everything softening,
Everything releasing.
All is quietly and gently fading,
Silently disappearing into the stillness peace of deep sleep.
