Day one,
Arrive in the morning stillness.
Welcome to this new day,
Before you step into its movements,
Allow yourself these few moments of quiet,
Of coming back to centre.
Sit comfortably on a cushion or on a chair,
Hands resting comfortably in your lap,
Keep your back,
Spine upright and your shoulders relaxed.
Now breathe in softly through the nose,
Mouth closed,
A long,
Steady,
Deep breath.
Then at the top of the breath,
Pause for a moment,
Then exhale slowly through the nose and at the bottom of the breath,
Pause once again before you next inhale.
So allow this breathing to find its own relaxed rhythm.
And as your breath begins to settle,
Notice that you are here,
In this body,
Awake to this moment.
Each inhalation is fresh,
As if the day itself is breathing you into being.
Each exhalation softens and clears away that which is no longer needed.
Feel the gentle rhythm of your breathing,
Drawing you back into a deeper state of inner presence and connection.
Your body is waking,
Your energies are gathering,
Your mind is becoming clear and open.
There is a conscious presence which brings this all together as one.
Stay with this presence for a few moments.
Notice the simple brightness of being here,
In this moment,
Quietly breathing.
And as you prepare to enter the day,
Carry this strong connection with you.
Let it move with you into your first steps,
Your first words,
Your first thoughts.
The day has begun,
And you begin it in its conscious potential.
