
Inner Child Healing Through Somatic Awareness

This meditation guides you through a body-centered approach to inner child healing, allowing younger aspects to emerge through somatic awareness. You'll identify where your inner child resides in your body, develop resources for healing, and create compassionate dialogue between adult and child parts. By working through your body's wisdom, you'll access early experiences and patterns that shaped your life, creating deeper integration and reconnection with your authentic self.

So hi everyone and welcome to this meditation.
I'll be your guide today for this inner child healing meditation.
The journey that we'll take today creates a safe space for our younger parts to be seen,
Heard and nurtured.
Now within each of us lives an inner child or perhaps perhaps different parts of us on our timeline from different ages,
Different experiences that we have had.
Now these younger parts of us carry joy,
Carry gifts but sometimes they also have unmet needs or unresolved experiences from our early years.
Now when we connect with these parts with presence,
Non-judgment and compassion we can heal old parts of us which may be impacting our adult lives.
So let's begin.
Now you can do this meditation sitting up or lying down.
Just find a comfortable position where your body feels supported and at ease.
And take a moment now just to make any adjustments needed so your body can fully relax.
Then you can begin just by bringing your awareness to your breath.
Now there's no need to change anything.
Just notice the flow of your breathing right now.
I am noticing,
Witnessing the flow of air moving in and out of my body.
Feeling the gentle rise and fall of your chest with every breath.
Feeling the gentle rise and fall of your chest with every breath.
Now as you're watching the breath,
Also now bring your awareness to the point of contact between your body and the surface supporting you.
Feel where you are being held.
Maybe the chair,
Maybe the floor,
Maybe the mat.
Just feel the point in your body where you're being held.
Now this physical support is a reminder that you are held and supported in this moment.
You are not alone.
Now feeling a little bit more present and aware.
Let's now create a container of safety for this work.
So imagine that you're now surrounded by just a gentle bubble of light.
Now this can be any shape,
Any color.
There is a bubble of light now surrounding me.
And this is us telling the universe that only that which is beneficial for my healing can come into my awareness today.
And this protective field now can allow me to explore safely with curiosity while remaining present.
If your body allows,
I invite you now to place your left palm on your heart.
And just also feel the warmth of your own touch.
The steadiness of your heartbeat.
And this gesture alone,
Your body's self-soothing response.
Now as you gently rest your hand on the heart,
Just imagine now that you're now filled in this moment.
With all the qualities that you need to be a good companion to your inner child.
What do I need in this moment to go back to those parts of me which are wounded?
Maybe wisdom,
Maybe compassion,
Maybe patience,
Maybe steadiness.
And some of you may also have emotions coming up this moment and that's okay.
Just simply notice what's available to you right now.
And as you breathe now,
With your hand on your heart,
All the resources that you need,
They are now showing up for you.
Now,
Let's use the wisdom of our own body to guide us towards any inner child aspects that may need my attention today.
Now let's begin with a gentle body scan.
And start to bring attention to different areas of your physical body.
Now as you're scanning your body now,
Are there any places that draw my attention?
Perhaps,
Are there any areas of tension,
Heaviness,
Constriction?
Are there any places in my body that feel alive right now?
Starting with your feet and your legs.
Notice any sensations that are present there.
Moving up to now,
To your lower abdomen.
Just being aware of any feelings or energy in this region.
Now,
Moving up to your chest.
And once again,
Noticing what's present here.
And my shoulders,
My arms,
My hands.
Noticing any sensations,
Any feelings.
And then scanning your neck,
Your face,
Your head.
And just simply noticing now.
Now let your attention just be drawn to any area of your body that seems to be carrying any resistance right now.
And if,
When you have located this,
Just bring your attention to those areas.
Now this place where I'm feeling the tension,
Where I'm feeling the warmth,
Where I'm feeling the coolness.
Or this place where I'm being drawn to right now.
Right now in my body.
This may be what I need to explore today.
Just maintaining awareness in this area of your body.
And just exploring this now with curiosity and with care.
And now,
Just receive my words.
Or you can say them out loud.
Or silently in your own mind.
While I hold my attention to the areas where I feel tension,
I will now say,
I see you.
I see you.
I see you.
I see you.
I see you.
Now as you've said these words,
The sensation in that area may start to feel a bit stronger,
You may be more aware of it.
Or you may also start to have either a feeling,
An emotion,
A memory.
Or simply an age,
You may see yourself as a child.
Now this can either be you seeing,
Sensing,
Knowing.
Or you may just have emotions move in your body.
So whichever way your inner child is presenting to you today,
That is exactly how this feeling needs to happen.
And if nothing specific is emerging for you,
That's completely fine too.
Just maintain an awareness of these sensations in your body,
Knowing that these connections happen on many levels and not all of them are always conscious.
Now,
As you're now connecting with this activation that we had,
What are you aware of right now?
How old might this part of me be?
What is their emotional state?
What is it that is affecting them?
They may be caring or needing.
Are they frightened,
Angry,
Joyful,
Confused?
And just wait.
Just take your time here connecting with this activation that you had and allowing your awareness to bring forth,
Unfold this for you.
Now,
If it feels right for you,
At this stage,
You can either sit next to this energy to your inner child or perhaps hold them maybe if that's what's needed.
Just let your intuition guide you and remember you cannot get this process wrong.
I tapped into my body's wisdom.
I was guided to a part of my inner child that wanted healing and now I'm now exploring that part just by being present with it.
I'm not here to change anything.
I'm not here to fix anything.
I'm simply here with my presence.
Now,
Whatever is being shown to you right now,
A memory,
A vision,
A time in your life,
An emotion,
A feeling,
I want you to say this to your inner child.
I see you.
I hear you.
All your feelings and emotions are valid.
I see you.
I hear you.
All your feelings and emotions are valid.
And just allow my words now to land in your awareness wherever they need to come.
So,
There is no right or wrong and notice and see what sensations,
What movements,
What shifts as you've said this.
Now,
We'll ask the body's awareness.
You'll ask the inner child now if it aligns with your highest good to show you or tell you what they've been carrying and whatever they want you to know to understand about their experience.
So,
If there are any feelings,
Emotions,
Memories and any other communication that needs to come into the field,
Now we'll sit with this inquiry.
I may get words,
I may get images,
I may have an emotional reaction or I may have sensations in my body.
Listen deeply without trying to fix or change anything.
Listen deeply without trying to fix or change anything and just receive now with compassion and with openness.
Watch it,
See it,
Bring it up,
Feel it,
Experience it.
Now,
We'll say this.
Whatever happened was not your fault.
Whatever happened was not your fault.
You did the best you could.
Whatever happened was not your fault.
You did the best that you could.
Just now holding space for this younger self with understanding.
You may feel fear,
Anxiety,
Heaviness or another emotion as you've said the words.
As I let my inner child now express itself to me,
Whatever has been suppressed will now come to the surface.
Just hold this.
Now,
Whatever may be unfolding for you in this moment,
We'll very gently make this inquiry and you might ask your inner child,
What do you need from me?
What do you need from me?
And as I deeply listen,
The response may come in the form of words,
Images,
Sensations or simply unknowing.
Does this part of you need comfort?
Does this part of you need to be listened to?
Does this part of you need to be held?
Just let this information now come to you.
I have identified this wounded part of me in my body.
I sat with it.
I let it express itself through me.
And now I've asked this part what it needs from me today.
And I'm now just sitting,
Waiting,
Listening,
Allowing.
Whatever emerges,
I will trust it.
Now you can take your time with this exchange.
Just allowing the healing to unfold at its own pace.
We now say,
You are safe now.
You are safe now.
You are safe now.
I am here with you now.
And I will not leave you alone again.
I am here with you now.
And I will not leave you alone again.
I am here with you now.
And I will not leave you alone again.
You belong.
You belong.
You belong.
And just letting your heart soften and sitting with this now.
As my inner child receives what it needs from me.
I'm feeling this integration,
This release happened.
Now if you think your inner child has received what it needed from you today,
You're very welcome now to continue.
If you think you need to spend more time in this space,
You're very welcome to pause this meditation and take as long as you need for this exchange.
And visualize at this stage as this younger part of me which showed up today has received what they wanted from me.
I can now imagine this energy going closer and closer and closer and closer and closer into my heart.
As I breathe in now,
I'm calling this wounded part of me home.
And this may feel like integration,
A greater sense of wholeness,
Relaxation.
Or all of a sudden I may feel energy flowing in my body in a particular area.
There is a new quality of presence or peace in my body.
And as I'm breathing in,
I'm integrating this healing.
And I'm feeling wholeness,
Healing,
Wholeness,
Healing,
Wholeness,
Healing,
Wholeness,
Healing.
At this stage I can put both my hands on my heart center.
And I'll now take a moment to appreciate my younger self first for showing up for me today.
And also my adult self for creating the space for this healing.
Over the next few hours,
Days and weeks,
You will fully integrate this healing that you've done today and the connection that you've established now remains available to you at all times.
Now every breath that you take,
You will slowly gently start to come back to your body.
I can maybe feel the awareness of the top of my head,
My forehead,
My nose,
My lips,
My throat,
My shoulders,
My arms,
My hands,
My chest,
My stomach,
My legs and my knees.
I can maybe start to wiggle my fingers,
Wiggle my toes.
Now at this stage when I'm ready,
I can very,
Very gently open my eyes,
Bringing my attention back to my space,
Back to my room.
Now you may notice over the next few days,
You may start to have memories from your past.
Maybe certain things that were unprocessed may start to come to the surface.
And as you continue just to create space for these parts to come up,
You can integrate them.
And heal.
