So,

Welcome everyone.

Today,

I invite you on a gentle journey to connect with a part of yourself that has been with you your entire life,

Your inner child.

Each of us carry within us the child we once were.

Now,

This inner child holds our natural joy,

Innocence,

Creativity,

Wonder,

Curiosity.

But sometimes,

There are also early wounds in my life,

Maybe unmet needs and vulnerable feelings.

When we lose connection with this essential part of ourselves,

We may find ourselves acting from old patterns or maybe experiencing emotions bigger than what the present moment warrants.

Learning to consciously connect with your inner child creates a space for profound healing.

It's not about blaming the past or those that have raised you,

But it's about becoming that loving presence that your younger self may have needed and still needs today.

Today,

Now this practice is simple yet powerful.

You may experience a sense of wholeness,

Integration and relief.

You may experience an emotional release and you may discover a newfound lightness and playfulness.

So,

Let's begin.

So,

Find a comfortable position,

Either sitting up or lying down.

And once you have the most comfortable position for you,

Allow your body now to feel fully supported.

If you feel safe and if your body allows,

At this stage,

You're very welcome to close your eyes.

Take a deep breath in through your nose and exhale through your mouth.

And again,

Deep breath in and exhale completely.

As I take each breath now,

I feel more present,

More in my body,

More in the here and now.

There is no need to be afraid.

There is no need to change or control anything.

Simply notice everything that's happening.

My breath,

My thoughts,

Noises,

Physical sensations,

Noticing,

Observing and allowing.

Noticing,

Observing and allowing.

Now,

Before we connect with our younger selves today,

Let's start by creating a feeling of safety in the body and the mind.

So,

Wherever you are right now,

Imagine yourself in a place where you feel completely safe and at ease.

This might be a real place that you know,

Or I can just imagine and create a safe space now.

Anything that feels right for you right now.

In your mind's eye,

See the detail of this safe space now.

The colours,

The light,

The textures,

The temperature.

Maybe there's a gentle breeze,

Maybe there is sunshine or the comfort of being sheltered and protected.

Listen to any sounds also that enhance the feeling of this safety.

Maybe there is gentle music,

Nature sounds or just peaceful silence.

Over the next few breaths,

You're going to fully arrive in this safe space knowing that you can return here anytime you need to during this meditation and beyond.

This is my safe space,

I can feel it,

I can sense it,

I can see it and my body now embodies this feeling of safety.

If it feels comfortable,

Place one hand over your heart,

Feel the warmth of your hand and the steady rhythm of your heartbeat.

This is a reminder that you're here for yourself bringing kindness to all parts of your experience.

Now from this place of safety and compassion I invite you to bring to mind an image of yourself as a child.

This might be a specific age that comes to mind or it can also be a general sense of your younger self.

You might see a clear picture or you might just have a feeling of the child's presence.

There's no right or wrong way to experience this.

Trust whatever arises for you now.

Take a moment now to simply observe this younger version of yourself.

How do they look?

How do they hold themselves?

What their eyes express?

And remember this is you the child you once were who still lives within you.

Now notice what this child might be feeling.

Are they happy?

Sad?

Frightened?

Lonely?

Playful?

Or something else?

Again trust whatever you sense without trying to change it.

You may also start to feel shifts in your body under your hand or in other areas.

Just allow everything.

Allow.

Now from my adult perspective from the me of today I can see this child with understanding that wasn't possible when I was young.

I can now clearly recognize that this child did the best they could wish for the best they could do at the time with the resources that they had.

This child did the best that they could with what they knew and with the resources that they had.

Now that I have a general sense of connection with this younger part of me whatever age whatever my timeline my body is showing me today I now invite you to listen to what this child might want to tell you.

If words come simply listen if feelings arise allow them to be felt if memories surface hold them with gentle awareness Now with your hand on your heart and with an open invitation and inquiry ask yourself silently What would you like me to know?

What would you like me to know?

What would you like me to know?

Listen with your whole being not just with your mind but your heart your body and your intuition Now perhaps this child has been waiting for a long time to be heard so there is no need to rush or force anything simply create a space for whatever needs to be expressed,

Felt and experienced today Now let's consider what this child might have needed at the time but didn't fully receive perhaps they needed to be truly seen and accepted perhaps they needed protection and safety perhaps they needed comfort From your adult self now you can simply offer what was needed at the time If you are a visual person imagine yourself approaching this child in your mind's eye with complete love and acceptance See yourself kneeling down to their level make gentle eye contact Now either silently or in a gentle whisper tell the child what they need to hear Also pay attention to how your body responds to these words I see you you are safe now your feelings matter you are loved exactly as you are it wasn't your fault and I am here for you now I see you you are safe now your feelings matter you are loved exactly as you are it wasn't your fault I am here for you now You can also use other words if they are coming for you now just do what you feel is right for you and your situation If it feels right imagine offering this child physical comfort in whatever way would feel safe and supportive perhaps a gentle hug a hand on their shoulder or simply sitting beside them feel the connection between your adult self and your child recognizing very clearly that both exist within you As you do this part of the journey you might notice sensations in your own body warmth relaxation perhaps even emotional release just allow whatever arises knowing that this is part of the healing process Now our inner child doesn't only hold pain but also holds our natural capacity for play,

Wonder and joy Take this moment now to invite your inner child to show you something that they love to do something that brings them happiness something that brought you happiness as a child maybe they love to dance draw run,

Daydream play with animals anything To connect with the energy of joy and innocence now see them engaged in this joyful activity see their face lift up with delight with innocence,

With happiness Now consider and reflect how you might bring more of this natural joy into your adult life Now imagine that whatever part has shown up for you today you can bring this child this peace with all their feelings all their unmet needs all their pain,

All their wounds all their wisdom,

All their joy back into your heart Today you can fully include them in your life Now I'll place both my hands on my heart and I'll imagine this younger self that showed up today gently,

Lovingly being held within me feel the wholeness that comes with this reconnection with this integration with this healing and we'll just take a few breaths now to complete this integration feeling wholeness feeling reconnection feeling strength maybe feeling a release of emotions Now as we prepare to close this meditation take a moment to thank your inner child for their presence and their courage reaffirm to them that you will now listen protect and honor this part of you very slowly very gently now begin to bring your attention back to your breath to your lower body to your back to your spine legs,

Knees,

Calf feet,

Shoulders,

Arms,

Hands wiggle your fingers wiggle your toes gentle movement in your neck and whenever you're ready slowly open your eyes carrying this sense of connection with you now remember the relationship with your inner child is ongoing it is a journey not a destination today's practice has just opened a door that you can walk through anytime you wish to deepen this connection in the days ahead you might notice moments when your inner child is present perhaps when strong emotions arise when you feel particularly vulnerable or when something brings this part of you out in the present in these moments you can focus on creating safety in your body listening to this part and whatever it brings without any judgment now as we close you can return to this practice anytime you need to may you continue to hold your inner child now and yourself with love and understanding which transforms all your wounds into wisdom and all your pain into peace so thank you for joining me in this journey of self-reflection and compassion so until next time namaste
