In Patience: A Mindful Jewish Moment, we delve into the profound wisdom of Jewish spirituality, Neo-Hasidic thought, and mindfulness practices. Inspired by a teaching from Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Kotsk, this track invites you to reflect on the spiritual practice of patience in the face of life’s challenges. Through gentle guidance, it explores how waiting with awareness and intention can deepen our connection to ourselves and the Divine. Whether you’re seeking calm, clarity, or a moment to center yourself, this mindful moment offers grounding and inspiration for your journey.

Menachem Mendel of Kotzk taught that we should speak only of those matters that have relevance to this very day and to this moment.

Not speaking of tomorrow,

For we don't know what tomorrow will bring.

Living in the moment allows us to access the attribute of patience.

When we are not constantly striving for what comes next,

We can cultivate patience by being present in each moment as it unfolds.

Rest your eyes,

Relaxing body and breath.

Our words of meditation today come from Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass.

I exist as I am,

That is enough.

If no other in the world be aware,

I sit content.

And if each and all be aware,

I sit content.

One world is aware,

And by far the largest to me,

And that is myself.

And whether I come to my own today or in ten thousand or ten million years,

I can cheerfully take it now,

Or with equal cheerfulness,

I can wait.
