Hi,
So a sugar craving has come up.
Hmm,
Well sugar cravings are increasingly common now.
Most of us have them and we all have the capacity to stay present watching the craving come and go.
Now of course sometimes that feels easy and other times it feels impossible or just really hard.
That's okay.
Each craving presents an opportunity to lovingly re-engage our promise and to try again.
So good for you for showing up for yourself and for trying again today.
Settle into your body into this moment.
Breathe deeply and really take that in.
What it means to know that you've shown up for yourself.
And good for you for trying again today.
You haven't given up and you are trying and you are worth all your efforts.
Stay connected to that and stay with your breath.
And as you notice the craving rise in your body,
Acknowledge your familiar human need.
Have patience and compassion for yourself as the desire fills you and maybe it even threatens to overtake you.
Just be with that feeling.
See if you can be still,
Letting the craving be there without fear or judgment or even resistance to the fact that it's there.
Just let it be there.
Just watch it and see where the craving goes and how it shows up in your body.
Just breathing through it and watching it.
As you watch it,
What words would you use to describe the craving?
And can you notice where it feels most urgent in your body?
If so,
Take a moment to place your hand there.
Just right over that spot or spots.
And stay with your breath.
Just being supportively available to yourself in this moment.
It's a moment of recognition too because you know this feeling.
It's familiar,
But it's not the same as the feeling you're feeling right now.
It's familiar,
But it's not forever.
And all feelings,
The ones we like and the ones we don't like,
Come and go.
And this craving will go too,
Just like it has before.
For now though,
Accept it as an invitation to explore what is really happening with you in this moment.
And think about it.
Can you name the feeling or the story or the need that's nestled under the craving?
And where did the craving spring from?
Is there a pattern here that you can recognize?
Or is there a trigger that you are familiar with that you know about because you felt it before?
It's safe to let yourself see what's happening underneath.
Stay with your breath.
Let your body soften.
Can you slow down and give yourself the support you need so let this craving deepen your practice of self-discovery?
What is the craving here to tell you or to show you?
Be with whatever you find.
And no matter what is there,
Remember that you are still lovable and you are still good.
Can you reconnect with the motivation to move through this craving without getting stuck?
Getting clear about your motivation can help.
Know as the saying goes,
When you know your why,
The how is easier.
Keep breathing.
You're okay.
Stay with yourself.
And feel your body in the now.
Look around you and if your eyes are closed,
Open your eyes and see how many colors you can see.
And notice what sounds you hear.
Scan your body and see what sensations you notice there.
Start with the feeling of the body.
And see what sensations you notice there.
Start at your toes and move up towards your knees and your hips,
Your chest,
Your shoulders,
Your head.
Just be aware of any sensations you're experiencing.
And stay with your breath.
And now see if you have enough space to let your motivation,
Your why,
Come into focus.
Can you see what it is that you're feeling?
And notice how your body is moving.
Come into focus.
Can you see what it is,
Your motivation?
And if you can,
What do you notice in your body as you think about your why?
The reason that you're able to move through the craving.
Why does that matter to you?
And as you focus on your motivation,
See if there is a place in your body where it feels most urgent or strong.
And if so,
Place your hand there or both hands.
Breathe in deeply.
Hold at the top.
And slowly release the breath.
And then breathe normally as you repeat these affirmations.
I am enough.
I am not my craving.
I can get through this feeling.
I can trust myself not to give up.
I am gentle with myself.
I lovingly forgive myself and try again as many times as I need to.
I have enough strength to stay present with my feelings,
Watching them come and go.
I believe in myself.
I stay supportively available to myself.
I am worthy of love no matter what.
I am not my craving.
And as we close,
Take a deep breath in,
Really big belly breath in.
And open your mouth.
Drop your shoulders.
Drop your shoulders and sigh it out.
Just let it all go.
And do that once more.
Big,
Big breath in.
Long,
Slow breath out.
Just reminding yourself as you feel settled in your body that you are not alone.
Be patient and gentle with yourself,
Remembering that cravings come and go.
You've got this.
You have what it takes to move through this craving.
Check in on messages and share how it's going.
I'd love to hear.
Take good care of you.
Namaste.
