Thank you for taking the time to be here.
If you find yourself called to this meditation,
It's perhaps because you're tending to a kind of heartache or heartbreak.
Maybe it's the result of some kind of separation from someone you love,
A romantic partner or lover,
A friend,
A family member,
A parent or a child.
Maybe you wish you could be with this person,
But for reasons outside of your control,
You just can't be with them right now,
And that makes you sad and causes pain.
As I record this meditation,
I'm navigating a recent separation from a woman that I love very much and wish I could be with.
But despite my best efforts,
That's just not possible at this time.
So if your heart is hurting,
If you're feeling a little tender,
And if your heart needs some loving attention,
Well then you're in the right place.
And we can be here together and care for each other across time and space.
Let's begin by closing our eyes if that feels comfortable and safe for you.
And let's take three breaths to help calm the body-mind and to arrive in this space.
Breathing in,
And breathing out.
Breathing in,
And breathing out.
Once more,
Breathing in,
And letting the breath fall away,
Allowing the breath to return to its natural rhythm.
There is no fancy or complicated technique to follow here today.
All we're doing is allowing any and all feelings,
Emotions,
And sensations to be present,
Inviting and welcoming anything that wants to be expressed and witnessed.
Whether that is sadness,
Loneliness,
Hurt,
Grief,
Regret,
Perhaps even anger,
Confusion,
Maybe every single one of those.
Whatever is present right now,
Whatever is most alive in you and your heart right now,
Is welcome here.
Whatever it is,
It's okay to feel this way.
Whatever it is,
It's okay to feel this way.
Setting the intention to open a space and allow anything and all things to be expressed,
It's okay to feel this way.
And if tears want to come,
Then let them come.
Tears and all emotions are welcome here.
These feelings that may be present are reminders of our capacity to love.
I've come to learn that the sense of loss and grief I feel when a loved one leaves my life is proportionate to how much I care for them,
And there is something comforting in recognizing that.
Perhaps that may feel in some way true for you too.
Whatever it is,
It's okay to feel this way.
We can thank these feelings for reminding us that we are alive,
That we have a heart,
That we care for others,
And in the absence of this person we allow any and all feelings to arise,
To be felt,
And to be present.
The boundless space of our awareness and of our loving hearts has the capacity to hold any measure of sadness,
Grief,
And pain.
It's okay to feel this way.
Here you are,
A human alive,
Breathing,
Blood flowing,
Emotions coming and going.
All of it is welcome here.
It's okay to feel this way.
And we'll conclude our practice now with another three deep breaths.
Breathing in,
And out.
Breathing in,
And out.
One more time,
Breathing in,
And on our final exhale,
Letting go with a sigh.
I am so grateful that you would trust me with your presence and practice today.
May we remember that the space and attitude we've cultivated here together is always available to us.
Whatever may be present for you,
In whatever circumstance,
It's okay to feel this way.
Thank you so much friends,
Sending you all a big blast of love across time and space,
Wherever and however you may be.
Bye for now.
