I invite you to close your eyes.

Notice what it feels like to be alive.

What signs of life can you experience in this moment?

Can you feel your lungs breathe?

Can you feel the tingling sensation of your skin?

Imagine your blood pulsing through your veins and the water hydrating your cells.

In this moment,

You are experiencing life in action.

Your body is an intricate system that regulates itself to keep you alive.

If you were missing one component,

You would cease to be alive.

Your body is constantly performing a balancing act.

If one area falters,

The other parts step in to try to bring things into balance.

It takes each part of your body in collaboration with one another to sustain life.

The earth is no different.

All of earth's parts are working together to sustain life.

The atmosphere regulates earth's temperature and the ocean regulates its salinity.

If one part becomes out of balance,

Other parts will step up to try to keep the system functioning.

Without its parts,

The whole can't function.

Take a moment to feel your body participating in sustaining life on earth.

Feel the winds of your breath fill your lungs.

With each exhale,

The earth is regulating its atmosphere through your breath.

In this very moment,

You are playing a role in the earth's regulation system.

Just by breathing,

You are participating in something so much bigger than yourself.

Once again,

Feel into your personal life system.

Feel the earth of your bones supporting you.

Feel the fire of your heart burning life force into your being.

Feel each part working together to keep you alive.

A lovely, delicate guided meditation that seems like it would be equally appealing and effective for listeners of all experience levels. It’s beautifully written, and the subtle musical element gives it added poignancy. Note: There is no overt cue that the piece is ending, in case you are expecting one.
